Position Summary
This is a Linux System Administrator with the Dell SecureWorks Corporate Information Services group. This individual must provide technical support and management for backoffice systems supporting day to day business functions. This must include a thorough understanding of the underlying operating systems, network, storage and applications supported by those systems.
This individual will address issues from systems management troubleshooting and solving issues with related hardware and software components, which includes rotating 24/7 on-call support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilitie
- Build, deploy and verify builds of physical servers and virtual servers based on compliance standards and build documents
- Document all servers commissioning and decommissioning in accordance with standards.
- Proactive monitoring of systems and applications to identify, prevent or improve overall performance
- Create, document and implement solutions for complex issues that arise.
- Perform upgrades and updates to both operating system and applications
- Ability, initiative and accountability to execute broad assignments requiring minimal direction
Required Skills, & Abilities
- 8+ years’ experience of relevant work experience
- 5+ years’ experience maintaining/supporting Linux environments at an enterprise level
- Experience with remote system logging
- Experience with smtp servers focusing on postfix and sendmail
- Apache experience with mod_rewrite
- Experience with LDAP
- Mysql user experience.
- Samba and NFS file sharing
- Scripting: Bash, perl or python a plus
- Understanding or SVN, CVS or other versioning systems
- Experience with automated systems management tools such as Satellite, Spacewalk, LANDesk, Shavlik or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of enterprise datacenter technologies including Networking, Security, TCP/IP, SAN, DHCP and DNS
- Experience in automated systems deployment and management
- Possess strong analytical, research and troubleshooting skills
- Technical documentation skills
Desired Skills:
- Networking (TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, DHCP)
- Disaster recovery and business continuity planning, implementation and documentation
- Experience and skills supporting virtualized enviroments (VMWare)
- Familiar with RedHat Linux (including Kickstart and Satellite)
- Worked on SAS, SASE, SOX or other compliance related audits

- Strong written and oral communication skills, possess the ability to interact with senior management and technical staff
- Excellent Customer Service
- Team Player with ability to work in a fast paced environment and comfortable adjusting to changing priorities
Education & Experience
- BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field (desired not required)
- 8+ years’ experience working in an Linux server environment.
- Working knowledge or exposure to ITSM, ITIL or ISO standard practices
