iDevice Engineer (Network Security Sr. Advisor)Dell SecureWorks Providence, RI

Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the 24x7 Security Operations Center (SOC) with advanced technical escalations with our iSensor Intrusion Prevention and CTA (Counter Threat Appliance) technologies as well as overseeing the integration of commercially available security products with our people, processes, and SIM technology. The iDevice Engineering team serves as the technical authority and product experts for our customers and internal teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Top notch operational support to internal teams and external customers
Responsible for the integrity and functionality of the field of deployed iSensors and CTA devices
New product or feature evaluation
Level-of-effort assessments for various projects and deliverables
Participate in an on-call rotation
 
Additional Responsibilities
Provides troubleshooting support to day-to-day operational and support functions, including monitoring and maintaining a ticket queue.
May be responsible for specific programs, customers and projects.
Updates management on project/activity status.
Manage multiple assignments and processes.
Creates and maintains documentation, both internal and customer facing.
Expanding knowledge of related disciplinary areas.
Extends capabilities by working closely with senior staff/experts within and outside the internal organization.
May provide technical guidance or influence the work of others.
Regularly interacts with colleagues or customers generally up to senior level management. 
 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Undergraduate degree and at 4-6 years of relevant experience, or Graduate degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience.
Strong background in network security management, internet firewalls, routing technologies and intrusion detection
Knowledge of trouble ticketing and CRM
Understands the operation of test and analysis equipment such as protocol analyzer, LAN/WAN sniffers, etc.
Thorough understanding of the OSI model
Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
CISSP, CCSA, CCSE, CCNA, CCNP or other Vendor Security Certification preferred
Working knowledge of PERL and BASH
Excellent knowledge of Unix Operating Systems
Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills
Ability to read and interpret network diagrams
Strong interpersonal and client service skills
Experience with processes in functional area (i.e. trouble management, fault management, and provisioning)
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Works with minimal direction.
Deep specialized knowledge in specific aspects of discipline.
Develops skills to analyze ambiguous problems.
Independently develops solutions that are thorough, practical, and consistent with functional or customer objectives.
Identifies opportunities for process and procedure enhancements to drive efficiency and customer service levels.
