A Senior Dedicated Teams Engineer is responsible for addressing escalations, performing upgrades and maintenances, as well as processing changes for any security device for a single global enterprise client. This individual must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail as well as excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. It is a requirement to be able to quickly and efficiently resolve abstract and complex client problems while maintaining high levels of satisfaction. In addition to providing support to this client, the individual will support internal colleagues by providing authoritative training on various security devices, and creating device support and troubleshooting documentation. Finally, the individual will be responsible for taking change requests from the client, vetting them, and preparing them for our 24x7x365 SOC to implement.
Responsibilities:
· Provide advanced firewall and IDS support for a large global enterprise client
· Provides deep subject matter expertise in current supported firewall technology (Checkpoint, Juniper Netscreen, and Juniper SRX) as well as quickly learn any new firewall/IDS technology introduced into the network, becoming the team expert on those technologies
· Maintaining centrally managed consoles and critical infrastructure that enables our SOC to manage firewall and intrusion detection devices
· Take ownership of abstract and complex issues and work to resolution
· Participate in an on-call rotation
· Provide support for our 24x7x365 SOC
· Provide technical authority, documentation of technical and operational procedures, and guidance to peers and the SOC.
· Work closely with peers and the SOC to identify gaps in training, and provide trainings as necessary.
· Document and perform system upgrades, regular product updates, emergency patch applications, and maintenances
· Ability to work occasionally outside of pre-defined shift based on client demand and support requirements
· Demonstrate excellent communication and client care skills by documenting all activities within our client delivery systems and communicating with client representatives in a timely manner
· Ensure escalated monitored health events are being resolved in a timely manner
· Ensure that we are implementing best practice security policies that address the client's business need while protecting their vital corporate assets
· Manage, participate in, or directly work on any additional projects, assignments, or initiatives assigned by management
· Work closely with a project management team on planned activities.
· Level-of-effort assessments
· Support activating new devices through the provisioning/installation of supported managed products
· Receiving change requests from the client, screening them for accuracy, and preparing them for our 24x7x365 SOC to implement
Requirements/Experience:
- Ability to work 3rd shift 4x10 Thursday – Sunday from 10:00 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of functional experience
- Strong background in network security management, internet firewalls, routing technologies and intrusion detection systems
- Knowledge of trouble ticketing and CRM
- Advanced networking knowledge, including a thorough understanding of the OSI model
- Obtains or is pursuing vendor security certifications such as CISSP, CCSA, CCSE, CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, and JNCIA
- Knowledge of firewall and VPN technology, specifically Check Point, Juniper NetScreen, and Juniper SRX
- Advanced knowledge of Unix operating systems
- Ability to manage multiple individual and group projects from conception to delivery
- Ability to interact with members of cross-functional team, reach consensus, and show results
- Experience in writing clear, accurate and thorough technical documentation
- Ability to think strategically, define clear execution plans, and follow through to delivery
- Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to communicate technical details in a clear, understandable manner
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams
- Strong interpersonal and client service skills
- Experience with processes in functional area (i.e. trouble management, fault management, and provisioning)
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
