RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Define & Implement Product Category strategy across multiple Client Peripheral product lines. Product strategy must include:
· Define Target customer, Market size & dynamics, Competitive benchmarking
· Dell value prop, use cases
· Financials , growth assumptions
· Decision on DB vs. 3PP; develop product stack
· Decision on vendor & SKU rationalization
· GTM strategy
· Rollout phasing by geo, by segment, sub-category
2. Innovate a new Product Development process that supports a better, broader, faster, cheaper, Dell Branded Client Peripheral portfolio
· Highly leverage 3rd party suppliers in product design & roadmap development
· Quickly launch a few high-priority (Phase-1) products using the new Product Development model
· Use Phase-1 as pilot, to build repeatable, scalable Prod Development process involving PG, WWP, engineering, design, and Product strategy functions
3. Identify risks in current 3PP management process and build controls to:
· Limit sku proliferation & vendor proliferation
· Ensure reasonable compatibility of Dell systems & 3PP in configurator
· Limit inventory liability risks to Dell
SKILLSETS
· Strategic thinking: Ability to think strategically at a high level and identifying key business drivers. Ability to analyze market, customer, competition and suggest realistic strategy to growing the business
· Project management: Ability to structure a project, build a project plan, lead a project core team including members from multiple functions and geographies, drive project deliverables on time, communicate results to senior mgt
· Functional knowledge: Prior knowledge in Marketing, and S&P or Product management. Ability to spot highly-desirable products from me-too products
· Drive for results: Aggressiveness to hit Project plan & Rev/Mgn targets
· Innovation & Change Mgt: Ability to constantly innovate on product development methodology & processes. Influence a diverse, cross functional team of stakeholders to embrace new process
· Communication: Ability to influence leadership on a strategy, business plan and get buy-in to a strategy
· Partner management & Negotiation: Build strong relationships with peripherals vendors and distributors. Negotiate for better price & services
· Fluent English (speaking, reading, and writing) and powerpoint skills. Strong Mandarin speaking. Prior knowledge of working with people from Asia-Pacific countries
