Network Test Engineer Santa Clara, CA
Job Description:
Responsible for testing of the SDN/OpenFlow software through creation and execution of test plans. Responsible for creating and conducting Manual and Automation tests. Also responsible for helping manage the SDN/OpenFlow lab.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing Tests through Python and Shell Scripting
- Conducting manual and automated testing
- Working closely with software group to get unit tests extended
- Extending test coverage and improving test methodologies and processes
- Creating and reviewing Dell specific test plans, test cases, and test specifications
- Establishing and maintaining test beds
- Work with Sustaining and Customer issues
- Managing activities to meet their delivery dates and reporting accurate and complete status
- Assessing test strategies and driving overall quality improvements within test organizations
- Presentation of accurate summary and detailed project status to senior management
- Preparation of technical product documentation used internally and externally
Minimum of 5 years experience with Ethernet switching products
Required skills:
Strong background in networking protocols layers 2 and 3 protocols (VLAN, STP, LACP, QoS, BGP, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, MAC), Windows/Linux OS administration with an understanding of subnets, firewalls and switch configuration
- Data Center networking: Network virtualization techniques, experience in management & orchestration tools
- L4-L7 appliance both physical and virtual appliance.
- Switch ACL and filtering
- Working knowledge of SNMP, HTTP, XML
- Virtualization: Experience in using VMWare (ESX, vShere, vSwitch, vCenter), Xen, KVM, Hyper-v
- Traffic generator tools: Ixia, Spirent, waverunner, Agilent, open source tools
- Proficiency with one or more of the following scripting languages:
- Scripting: Tcl, Perl, Expect, Ruby, Python
- Solution testing, Customer network deployment/debugging/support/beta trails would be highly desirable.
- Must be able to drive problem-solving strategies for complex issues that involve cross-functional disciplines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong team leadership skills are required
