Role Overview:
The Software Engineer will be a key member of the engineering team, responsible for designing, developing, and testing software in a multi-platform environment using cutting-edge technology. The engineer will work with system administrators, security analysts, product management and clients to ensure we produce high quality products that exceed expectations. This is a challenging and also very rewarding position involving interesting projects in network security.
 
Role Responsibilities:
-Apply software engineering knowledge to the design and development of new products as well as product changes and enhancements
-Interface with key stakeholders in Product Management, Operations and Quality Assurance to ensure completion of software projects on time and budget
-Troubleshoot infrastructure functionality and performance issues
-Contribute to software process improvements to increase software maturity
-Work with software and systems architects to evaluate high level designs and architectures
 
As a managed security provider, Dell SecureWorks expects its employees to understand and apply commonly known security practices and possess a working knowledge of applicable industry controls such as NIST 800-53.  Employees will be expected to acknowledge their security responsibilities in writing prior to gaining access to company systems.   Employees will be required to maintain a working knowledge of local security policies and execute general controls as assigned.

Requirements:
-Experience with Java 10+ software development and modern Java web frameworks and libraries
-Must be highly motivated and willing to take on projects under deadline
-Solid technical knowledge of a modern high level programming language
-Proven solid analytical and problem solving skills
-Willingness to work within an agile methodology
-Excellent communications and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with peers, IT management and staff, and internal/external business partners/clients
 
Preferences:
-Experience with developing highly scalable systems with high transaction and volume loads; experience in building high quality and high performance system
-Experience with the following:
          o Using XML and XSLT
          o Esper
          o Active MQ or other queuing technologies like IBM MQ
          o Working with service oriented architectures
          o SQL and relational databases (ibatis or experience with another ORM a plus)
          o Using Linux or other UNIX operating system
          o Working within an agile process (Scrum, XP, etc)
-Information security knowledge is preferred but not required
-Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or related discipline;  or equivalent work experience
