Commodity Management within Materials and Procurement develops and implements plans to support forecasted needs for suppliers or commodities. We use our in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets to negotiate supplier agreements and contracts with optimum pricing and terms. We also harness our understanding of commodity qualities, transportation options, risk management and supply chain evaluation models to develop optimal commodity management strategies.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Tracks new technology development for assigned products/suppliers. Drives alignment between Supplier roadmaps and Dell line of business roadmaps. Negotiates product cost and contracts as appropriate.
  • Drives suppliers to improve their scorecard performance. Reports commodity and supplier performance on a monthly basis.
  • Implements Dell initiatives with supply base as required. Identifies opportunities for supply chain optimization and implements as appropriate.
  • Identifies suppliers that provide relevant technology for products.
  • Identifies cost targets for relevant roadmap products.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With limited direction, organizes or leads cross-functional commodity team and drives commodity metrics, strategies and objectives while conducting risk analysis and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Develops and gains business buy in for complex RFQ In addition to making supply chain optimization recommendations, participates in post-mortem analysis and process updates to support new products
  • Drives resolutions for issues within the supplier and negotiates product cost and contracts, involving Senior Management as appropriate
  • Tracks and monitors new technology development and supports supplier integration with organization strategy
  • Responsible to develop and maintain contact and build relationships with key suppliers


Essential Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience, preferable in Server/Storage commodity space.

  • Supplier management knowledge (Managing commercial relationship)

  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills

  • Excellent experience in supplier evaluation, as well as pricing and cost analysis.

  • Proven experience in market research, trend analysis as well as strategic and long-range planning


Desirable Requirements

  • Masters/Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management /Science Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Admin.

  • Proficient in office applications (MS Office, Excel, Power Point) - Proven track record of using advanced excel/automation/data management will be a big advantage.
