VMware TKG (Tanzu Kubernetes Grid) Windows team is seeking a software engineer to help advance our mission of making TKG the best platform to operationalize Kubernetes for multi-cloud enterprises and service providers to run Windows applications. You have the opportunity not only to contribute to a product that has direct impact to enterprise customers, but also work closely with the Kubernetes SIG-Windows community. What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?
We need someone to work with the team to solve challenging problems on TKG critical production capabilities such as container networking, load balancing, cross-cluster connectivity, as well as high availability and rolling upgrade for Kubernetes clusters to run Windows workload on Windows nodes. In the meantime, you are also responsible for how to easily customize Kubernetes and simplify deployment and operation of Kubernetes clusters.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
As a member of TKG Windows team, you will
Solve the challenging problems of networking, storage, compute in order to run Windows on Kubernetes
Design and implement new features to better run and customize Kubernetes for Windows workloads
Improve TKG overall reliability, scalability and ease of use of Windows
Work with Global Support and Service team to support field POC and customer cases
Improve stability and test coverage of Windows CI/CD pipelines
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
The hiring manager for this role is Tong Liu, Sr. Engineering Manager in MAPBU. Tong has been with VMware for over 7 years. Before joining MAPBU, Tong spent first 5 years at NSBU leading the NSX container initiative. Tong leads a talented TKG team to work collaboratively with multiple business units with a shared passion of making the best Kubernetes management platform for enterprise customers.
