Associate Consultant - Cyber and Disaster Recovery

  • Contribute to the development of client DR/HA strategies, policies and best practices through participation in up front consulting work and planning and design meetings.
  • Participate in client change management and IT planning activities, document and apply changes that affect the DR/HA program scope. If the changes alter the scope, prepare the change cost/benefit document for review with the BC/DR PM.
  • Assist with the development of DR/HA plans including ensuring the client's operating procedures are fully cross-referenced in those plans. Utilizes DR/HA planning software as needed to support these activities.
  • Develop and distribute monthly status reports.
  • Assist with the development of detailed test objectives and plans, participates in all tests and documents test results. Coordinate and drive action and issue tracking through to completion.
  • Periodically review and update the detailed design document to ensure the DR/HA solution specifications remain current; validate updates with the BC/DR PM and client and technical leads.
  • Conduct (minimum annually) a comprehensive review of new research, best practices and methodology and tool updates, leveraging DELL EMC's knowledge base as well as external sources. Document recommended improvements to the client's program based on the findings; provides high level cost and benefits to support the recommendations.
  • Adhere to proper Escalation and Change Control procedures. Prepare, maintain and submit activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of existing or potential client software/hardware situations. Proactively alerts BC/DR PM of potential problems based upon in depth knowledge of clients application and DR/HA environment. Stay current on technical specifications for hardware/software requirements of DELL EMC and industry products through professional associations, trade journals, networking, and associated training and seminars.
  • Perform all DELL EMC internal reporting and information-sharing as required by management; as appropriate participate in DELL EMC account planning and review sessions.
  • Develop and cultivate strong customer relationships ensuring a "Customers for Life" relationship.


  • Strong foundation in Computer Science, network and data structures.
  • Strong understanding of Internet, Mobile and Cloud technologies
  • Customer focus and relationship management skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to write for both technical and senior manager levels
  • Strong results orientation with attention to detail and quality of deliverables
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite (Powerpoint, Word, Visio and Excel)
  • Understanding of the BC/DR terminologies and industry standards such as ISO22301, ITIL and NIST are a plus.
  • Program and project management skills, PMI certification a plus

EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelors (Business/Computer Science), Professional/Technical certification a plus.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2 - 7 years total in a Computer Science related field, IT operations and/or support role


Travel: 75 – 100%

Prepares, maintains and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures.  Keeps project managers informed of activities, alerting of any issues promptly.  Provides knowledge transfer throughout and at the completion of assigned projects.  Assists in the creation of proposals that address current and evolving client requirements.  Interacts with clients in presentations, data gathering and analysis activities.  Participate in delivery of systems, products, applications and policies by writing and executing complex text cases and PMO documentation under direction.  Keeps project managers informed of activities, alerting on any issues promptly and seeking assistance when required.  Prepares, maintains, and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/mgt reports in accordance with published procedures.  May participate as junior technical resource in pre-sales qualification and delivery of technical design, strategies and plans.  May train customer personnel on less complex solutions.  A person in this role would evolve over time, but at the start would be expected to receive, organize and structure and extract trends from data.  Eventually working with more independence.  Understands that travel may be required for extended periods of time.
