The Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service for vSphere, a critical element of the VMware Tanzu portfolio, is seeking an Engineer to help advance our mission of making vSphere the best place to run Kubernetes. This team is focused on building Cluster and Infrastructure Lifecycle Management capabilities to deliver a Kubernetes as a Service offering for customers that enables their users to run general-purpose Kubernetes workloads. You will work to deliver an enterprise-grade, scalable, and robust Kubernetes offering to organizations of all sizes and improve the lives of the developers alike.

What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

We're seeking someone to join our TKGS ATOMS team, which is responsible for the components which allow Kubernetes clusters to seamlessly integrate with components enabling authentication, telemetry, observability, metrics, and provide serviceability aspects to a cluster-admin and end-user.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

·         Design and Implement Kubernetes ATOMS components

·         Drive integrations with Tanzu Mission Control and Supervisor Services (part of vSphere with Kubernetes)

·         Provide feedback to peers through code and design reviews

·         Work with Tanzu Portfolio products product management and architects to technically drive Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service forward

What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The hiring manager for this role is Kavitha Daula, Engineering Manager in MAPBU. Prior to this role, Kavitha has been an SRE and Cloud engineer working on Kubernetes and OpenStack. Kavitha currently leads a collaborative team that consists of engineers, tech leads, and managers from multiple business units with a shared passion for making it easy for application developers to adopt Kubernetes.
