Ready to build? So are we. Come join VMware’s Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) Networking team. We build the foundational component of Modern Applications Business Unit (MAPBU). We research user needs, understand the Kubernetes networking ecosystem, and build modular pieces like Kubernetes controllers and custom resources. We work with Go, YAML, Kubernetes, and various open-source projects.
We care deeply about collaboration, both with the open source community and within our own team. We focus on the Kubernetes Windows, where we strive to engage with the open source community. We prefer candidates based in San Francisco or Palo Alto, but are open to candidates whose working hours enables collaboration with teammates in the United States and Beijing.
The TKG Windows team is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer.
In this role you will
Build key Windows features in our foundational Tanzu Kubernetes Grid product.
Contribute to the windows CRI and CNI ecosystems, ensuring different providers work properly on Windows Kubernetes nodes
Spearhead the ecosystem of applications that use privileged containers for advanced, intuitive, cloud native experience for users on Windows
Contribute to open source Kubernetes projects such as cluster-api, image-builder, containerd, and Kubernetes itself.
Become a local expert on Kubernetes windows networking, containerization, and storage.
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience building distributed systems, ideally in the Kubernetes domain, interest or experience doing iterative distributed testing and development
Basic knowledge of how Windows containers work (or extremely high level of interest in learning)
Collaboration with Open Source communities
Openness to or experience with pair programming, and long-tailed troubleshooting of legacy systems with lots of quirks.
Minimum three to five years of professional software development experience
