Hardware Senior Engineer - NAND Media Characterization

What you’ll achieve
As a Hardware Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in characterization campaigns to evaluate all relevant properties of NAND for achieving SSD data reliability and endurance requirements, developing scripts & tools for processing large-scale data sets and for conducting NAND failure analysis on SSDs and maintaining test environment (chambers, servers, storage, networking etc) as well as execute test scripts.

You will:

  • Troubleshoot test infrastructure issues, debug with analyzers, and setup DOEs to resolve test issues 

  • Develop efficient read error recovery mechanism and appropriate NAND management algorithms (e.g., background scan, bad block handling procedure)

  • Develop manufacturing break-in tests related to NAND

  • Evaluate and optimize parameters related to LDPC codecs on collected NAND data sets

  • Assist in post processing and data analysis along with creating and distributing plots and reports

  • Participate in technical engagements with NAND suppliers

Essential Requirements

  • B.S or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science

  • Strong coding skills and experience with data analysis tools and languages (Matlab, Python, C, R)

  • Solid understanding of NAND flash technologies

  • Solid understanding of PCIe & NVMe

  • Solid background of storage protocols and architectures

Desirable Requirements

  • Solid understanding of Linux operating systems (and storage network management)

  • Familiarity with electronics laboratory equipment (Scope, Power Supply, Function generator)

  • Strong experience in designing NAND characterization experiments and conducting analysis and simulations on resultant data sets
