Sr. Software Engineer (PowerStore-Engineering - Cloud-Serviceability)- Remote

In this challenging role you will build product features in PowerStore Serviceability core engineering, extending support to our Cloud offerings.  This is a full-time individual contributor (IC) opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer on the PowerStore Serviceability team with the relevant experience noted below. This team drives Serviceability across the product with an innovative toolset and infrastructure to detect, report, and correct system problems, both proactively and reactively. Required Skills:

  • 5+ year’s relevant software development experience- (Well versed with Python, Java and related development technologies in Linux)

  • Experience with Cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, AWS) and Virtualization (e.g., vSphere, Hyper-V)

  • Solid background in software fundamentals – design patterns, algorithms, and best practices

  • Strong skills in debugging, triaging, and resolving technical issues

  • Good understanding of SDLC and agile methodologies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills needed to interface with Developers and the larger Engineering community

  • Self-starter who effectively balances priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Effective collaborator within and across teams

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Java 8, RxJava, and Vert.x

  • Database experience and skills (especially PostgreSQL)

  • Experience with Data Analytics/Data Science and related tools

  • Experience with Git for source control

  • Experience working with open-source software

  • Prior Scrum experience or knowledge preferred

  • Ability to design for systems that may be degraded

Education :

  • BA in Computer Science, similar engineering field, or equivalent related experience

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software on the basis of customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment creating software solutions.


You will:
• Contribute to the design and architecture of new or re-engineered software/storage environments
• Prepare written software/storage specifications for sophisticated products from architectural diagrams and documents
• Build and review design, functional, technical and/or user documentation, as needed
• Develop, review and implement test strategies for software products and systems

Essential Requirements
• Validated knowledge of programming languages; operating systems; firmware; BIOS; device drivers; databases; system, network, operating system, and application administration; embedded software/firmware; tools and utilities
• Ability to code/debug more sophisticated programs using either written or verbal design specifications
• Capacity to achieve proficiency of new tools, languages and operating systems with training and on-the-job experience
• 5–8 years of related experience

Desirable Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree
