Systems Development Engineer

What you’ll achieve
As a Systems Development Engineer, you will design, define and implement complex system requirements for customers and prepare studies and analyses of existing systems. Collaborate with a cross functional team to resolve issues. Assists with tracking system level issues and identifying corrective action activities. Helps team transcribe issues to be outlined 8D reports. Contributes to first level failure triage and disposition.
Responsible for tracking issues through the system level development process. Attend and participate in meetings to implement closed loop corrective action processes with the cross functional teams. Works closely with internally qualification teams to supply fixes for verification and closure.
Assists with problem recreation and failure analysis of system level issues
Capable of learning and utilizing a variety of test equipment, diagnostic tools and techniques used in problem resolution
Accurately documents: issues, triage procedures and problem resolutions in fine detail
Applies technical expertise using standard operating and diagnostic protocols to resolve system level issues
Effectively communicates procedural and technical issues to immediate team in a fast paced and customer critical environment through a variety of mediums
Maintains a “closed-loop" communication style assuring all appropriate individuals are notified of ongoing issues and problem resolution status
Responsible for sharing all acquired knowledge concerning problem resolution
Contributes to a centralized problem identification and resolution database
Makes a recommendation to higher level technical support engineers or management for improving processes, standards and strategies
Identifies, documents and reports: design, reliability and maintenance issues, and escalates to senior resources accordingly
Regularly collaborates with team to submit content to the knowledge database for lessons learned
Learns and leverages Dell Technology's technical communication structure
Communicates effectively with a diverse team which extends well outside of the department

Ability to efficiently generate, track and update multiple issues in JIRA dashboards
Able to work with cross functional teams to reach issue resolution and closed loop corrective action
Familiarity with risk analysis methodologies
Ability to collaborate with others to achieve results, effective communication and technical skills to drive strategic decisions
Clear, concise and succinct communications
BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Industry experience with debugging, failure analysis and NAND based storage technologies preferred
Related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred
