This technology team works with other CTO teams, Product teams and the Strategy team to provide thought leadership and innovation into areas critical for Dell’s future success. The Technical Staff Storage Technologist will work closely with the Value Stacks Software CTO, peers in other CTO teams and Storage teams as a partner and consultant to help drive the exploration and adoption of upcoming Technology, Architecture and Innovation to assist in crafting Dell’s next-generation storage products to meet the demands of a changing world.. What you’ll achieve
This technology team works with other CTO teams, Product teams and the Strategy team to provide thought leadership and innovation into areas critical for Dell’s future success. The Technical Staff Storage Technologist will work closely with the Value Stacks Software CTO, peers in other CTO teams and Storage teams as a partner and consultant to help drive the exploration and adoption of upcoming Technology, Architecture and Innovation to assist in crafting Dell’s next-generation storage products to meet the demands of a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we collaborate with brilliant technologists across Dell Technologies and leading industry technology companies and communities.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a lead strategist and architect for technologies as they apply to Dell’s Storage portfolio
Identify and develop differentiation opportunities, provide technical information and make recommendations to strategy team, engineering, customers, and business executives
Explore and understand trends with senior leadership to develop the strategic direction for technology initiatives with impact across product lines
Provide organization-wide expertise and leadership in the design and development of next generation storage solutions that leverage advanced HW capabilities like SmartNICs, GPUs, compression offloads, and future media like emerging Storage Class Memory devices
Drive internal and external alignment of the strategy
Take a leading role in strategic technical forums and meetings on a regular and consistent schedule
Generate IP including multiple invention disclosures per year and patent filings
Author technical papers (e g , white papers) that clearly articulate industry and company trends in technology and solutions.
Represent the company by presenting in public forums, contributing to technical publications, and leading in strategic industry forums
Develop long-term technical relationships with relevant partners for core technology or solutions
Essential Requirements
Expert level of knowledge or capability in many of the following areas:
Dell’s long-term business goals and objectives
Deployment models including: Software Defined Storage, HCI, Cloud, As-a-Service
SmartNICs, GPUs, Intel QAT and other advanced server/CPU offload technologies
Persistent media (HDD, NAND / Flash, Pmem, etc.)
Modern software development processes including test-driven development, continuous integration, continuous testing and agile development
VMware, Docker, Kubernetes
Infrastructure software design and development, abstractions, programmability, protocols and scaling
Solution development and design
Ability to conduct presentations to peers, cross- functional teams and director level of leadership
Ability to mentor and lead peers within the technical community

Essential Requirements:
- 15+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12+ years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience
- Product technology and system level integration
- Architecting, designing and implementing block, file, and object storage systems
- Architecture and design of Data Protection software
- Competitor's offerings and their underlying technologies
