Technical Marketing Engineer, Energy Solutions - Remote US or Canada

This role is for an experienced Technical Marketing Engineer (Engineering Technologist) with knowledge of the Energy Industry that is chartered to gather the technical requirements needed to create a roadmap of integrated E2E industry solutions from the customer driven use case down through the Partner Applications/Frameworks (e.g., ISVs, OTs, SI’s) enabled today by our Dell Technologies portfolio.  Initially, focusing on Electrical Utilities trends around substation automation capabilities, smart grid operations/modernization, and digital energy transformation at the edge.  Then, focusing on non-renewable energy (e.g., Oil and Gas) and renewable energy (e.g., solar power).

From applied research to advanced engineering, the Engineering Technologist team has the expertise to shape ground-breaking products, material and processes. It’s a fascinating field of work. We’re involved in assessing the competitive market, developing technology and product strategies and generating intellectual property. We lead technology investigations, research industry capabilities and recommend potential acquisitions or vendor partner opportunities. Our insights influence product architecture and definitions. And we work with colleagues across the business to ensure our products always lead the way.

What you’ll achieve
As a Product Management, you will identify new growth areas, technologies and emerging product/service opportunities. You will conduct in-depth market analysis to optimize existing products/solutions and build next generation products, partnering closely with the Engineering and Product Management teams to build a product road map and align product strategies for the business.

You will:
• Collaborate with Business stakeholders and Senior Engineers on design/creation/positioning for highly available and scalable products
• Use Lean Software Development processes such as Agile, Scrum and Kanban
• Author strategy docs, white papers, market research and vision documents along with user stories for current and future products
• Present strategic product communications across multiple stakeholder organizations
• Manage the entire product life cycle, prototyping and testing new features and changes to our product and processes

Essential Requirements
• Experience in defining long-term product strategy and vision, business and entrepreneurial acumen with strategic and critical thinking

Experience with NERC-CIPS and IEC-61850 standards and the LF Energy Forum and Open Group OSDU Edge & OPAF initiatives

• 9+ years’ experience in technical Product Management
• Strong technical acumen with a history of building/delivering enterprise products,
• Experience defining projects, collecting requirements, writing detailed functional specifications, coordinating efforts to scope and scheduling and deploying new feature sets

Desirable Requirements

  • Strong technical skills in IT, datacenter, edge computing systems, Cloud, compute, storage, networking and security

  • Experience in writing product and customer requirements and using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize decision-making
