The Senior Technical Program Manager is a leader and the primary interface between the Global Solution Consultant (GSC) presales community and the Service Provider Edge BU (SEBU) product marketing and engineering teams.

In this capacity you will be responsible for building strong relationships and supporting the GSC team in the Americas, EMEA and APAC. You will conduct research to discover operational solutions that are necessary to improve team productivity and success.

You will collaborate with product marketing leads to ensure the availability of tools, documentation and other enablement that will allow the pre-sales teams to be effective selling VMware products.

Serve as a primary point of contact to gather customer feedback related to product quality, functionality and enhancements. Communicate findings to product management and engineering teams with the goal of collaborating to improve the product and customer experience.

You know and understand the technical and business requirements of large Mobile and Communications Providers.  You have worked in the Telco Cloud ecosystem of vendors and/or partners to drive end to end strategy for customers.

Industry Specific Knowledge:

  • Experience in 3G/4G/5G Radio and Core Technologies
  • Understand Telco RAN, vRAN, and ORAN strategies
  • Data Center, Virtualization, NFV, and Cloud
  • Cloud native technologies and operations
  • MEC and Edge Computing 
  • Cloud Automation

Responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted advisor to sales leadership by delivering insights and helping to define strategies in support of organizational growth initiatives
    • Leverage or define tools/process to provide visibility of technical status of deals
    • Identify roadblocks to revenue 
    • Identify business impacting trends

  • Drive operational discipline and consistency across the SP regions.
  • Act as the advocate in driving the field agenda by collaborating with product, engineering, marketing and R&D groups
  • Be the voice of the field pre-sales organization for VMware Service Provider product/solution requirements and key priorities
  • Feature requirements across all business units
  • Track and provide visibility to product quality issues
  • Track and provide visibility to service and support issues
  • Create operational constructs and processes that are based data to aid to help the field team align with SEBU business objectives and priorities
  •  Lead communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within GSC community and across VMware broader products teams and business units

  • You will maintain technical and business knowledge of industry directions, trends, relevant standards, trade associations, industry consortia, etc. 
  • You will maintain working knowledge of applicable competitor products and offerings
  • You will actively participate in regular professional development, training, and certification activities that are relevant to your job role

Expectations:

  • You will have 10 - 15 years of experience in the industry developing products for, selling to,  or working directly for companies in the telco or mobile communications, media and entertainment sector(s) in a technical, engineering, or development capacity
  • You have pertinent professional credentials in the field, such as undergraduate and / or graduate degrees or equivalent, professional certifications, etc.
  • You will have direct knowledge of and exposure to the technologies, architectures, and products used throughout the networks and operational environment of communications and media service providers
  • You are an enthusiastic self-starter with a friendly demeanor, and the desire / ability to work effectively within a team comprised of a range of personality types, backgrounds, and skill sets
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required along with excellent presentation skills and strong customer facing and relationship building skills. The ability to present extemporaneously is desirable
  • You are self-driven and must be effective in working both independently and in a team setting
  • You have strong listening and question based skills with the ability to uncover business challenges and develop solutions to tackle those challenges
