Principal Engineer, Tech Support – Hyperconverged and Cloud Solutions

What you’ll achieve

As a Principal Engineer, you will use your expertise in VMware/Linux technologies to provide support to our frontline teams and customers as you resolve complex technical issues. You will also work on improving processes, standards, and strategies to enhance our support services.

You will:

  • Recommend and use a wide variety of test equipment, diagnostic tools and techniques used in problem resolution to resolve customer issues - assisting engineers on complex cases and elevated engagements.

  • Maintain a closed-loop communication style assuring all appropriate individuals are notified of ongoing issues and problem resolution status.

  • Be responsible for sharing all acquired knowledge concerning problem resolutions – leading efforts in facilitating problem re-creation and failure analysis systems level issues.

  • Foster close working relationships with our partners to provide best in class support.

  • Stay up to date with product developments by taking ongoing training and maintaining industry standard expert certifications e.g. VCP, VCAP, RHCE.

Essential Requirements

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience (Undergraduate degree and 4-6 years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 2-4 years relevant experience).

  • Strong working knowledge of VMware products such as vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Horizon, vRealize.

  • Good working knowledge of Linux technologies.

  • Knowledge of protocols and technologies used in Virtualization and Linux solutions: NPAR, iSCSI, FC, SMB, NFS, VLAN, VXLAN, GENEVE, LACP.

  • Proven track record of multi-tasking, keeping deliverables on target and troubleshooting customer environments

Desirable Requirements

  • Working Knowledge of some of the following SAN / Network technologies & protocols (vGPU, NVME-OF, SR-IOV, RDMA, iSER, FCoE, DCB, RDMA, NAT, OSPF, BGP, VPN)

  • Proven track record in maintaining and enhancing skill(s) level(s) according to future technology trends, and achieving Industry Certifications on a continuous basis

  • Certifications:

    • VMware VCP, VCAP, VCIX

    • Red Hat RHCA, RHCE

    • Cisco CCNA, CCIE

    • Dell Proven Professional

    • Red Hat, Ubuntu, Kubernetes
