As a Sr. Manager of Product in the Modern Applications Business Unit (MAPBU) team you will define, validate and communicate product vision and strategy.  You have seen the power of empowered, balanced teams and believe in Outcomes over Output.  You have strong product instincts, but more importantly have an appreciation for and understanding of lean startup, agile and user-centered design values, principles and practices.  You are excited by the user and business value that technology can unlock. What you’ll be doing

You will be the product-focused voice on the Balanced Leadership Team for the Tanzu service control plane program, which aims to address customer needs around service consumption by application developers on our Tanzu platform at enterprise scale. This is a London-centered program but there is significant collaboration with teams in other locations.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Managing a team of Product Managers who support the individual teams and projects within your program

  • Collaboratively defining and driving product strategy, vision and roadmap evangelizing to all the teams, partners and users of our platforms.

  • Working with the team to drive product definition, design and prototyping process to discover customer problems and create valuable, desirable and feasible solutions.

  • Collaboratively defining and prioritizing an outcome centric roadmap for your area that continuously delivers measurable value towards the vision.

  • Coaching product practice, and helping innovate and iterate on agile PM processes and share our insights.

  • Actively engaging customers and the larger open source community of users.

  • Working at a program level with technical leads, designers, and people managers in figuring out what to work on next and how to prepare for future work.

  • Bringing clarity where there is uncertainty, manage risk and continuously deliver value. 

  • Defining experiments, measuring success metrics and using data to inform decisions.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years Product management experience, especially with large scale, distributed products, or equivalent experience as an engineering leader and ready to make a transition to product

  • Experience managing teams of product managers or engineers

  • Bonus points if that experience includes Kubernetes, cloud native applications, application software platforms, or data services

  • Exposure navigating large enterprise organizations with an understanding of IT partnerships

  • Able to breakdown complex problems into simple solutions focused on important customer needs

  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to teach others

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making

  • Focused on data-driven approaches to solving problems, and accelerating the learning process to validate solutions

  • Ability to collaborate well with engineers, designers, and other partners

  • Experience with Lean and User-Centered Design methodologies

  • Experience with agile development methodology, ideally Extreme Programming

  • Comfortable with ambiguity. We work in an iterative and incremental way, balancing many different inputs and constantly making trade-offs.
