The VMware Tanzu .NET Experience engineering team is looking for a self-motivated and passionate engineer to join our development team.  This position will be focused on creating a state-of-the-art experience for .NET developers using our Tanzu product suites.  You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the open source project, Steeltoe, which will involve working with our team and the community on the Steeltoe OSS project.  The open source effort will focus on growing the open source community around Steeltoe and provide better ways for developers to build cloud-native applications in a .NET ecosystem. The .NET Experience team is a distributed team, and as a member you will be responsible for overall design, development, testing, documentation, and promotion of key components.  


  • Design and develop .NET based frameworks in C#

  • Design and develop .NET sample applications to demonstrate component features

  • Design and develop unit and integration tests

  • Provide support to .NET developers and customers

  • Diagnose and fix software defects

  • Write technical documentation for our external developer audience, such as reference guides, getting started guides, and tutorials

  • Some travel is possible (less than 25%)


  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent experience

  • At least 6-8 years of professional  .NET & ASP.NET experience

  • At least 1-2 years of professional  .NET Core and ASP.NET Core experience

  • Experience building microservices based applications in ASP.NET & ASP.NET Core

  • Experience with Cloud computing platforms (e.g. Cloud Foundry, Azure, AWS, etc)

  • Experience building applications and using .NET developer tools (e.g. Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Rider, etc.)

  • Experience with TDD and unit test frameworks for .NET

  • Ability to mentor and evangelize .NET development practices across teams

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with others working remotely

  • Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and challenging problems

Bonus Qualifications (not required)

  • Some professional Java Spring Framework experience including Spring Boot

  • Track record of contributing to open source projects and engaging in developer communities

  • Some public speaking experience

  • Experience working with Kubernetes

  • Experience using Git/GitHub
