5G FPGA Designer - Junior Level

What you’ll achieve

If you’re interested in taking part in a once in a career opportunity, Dell is looking for a Radio FPGA Designer to be part of a brand new, built from the ground up, high powered Ottawa R&D team. The team will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing a technology new to Dell for addressing the demands of the 5G Radio subsystem for operators and to help our customers to exploit this significant market evolution. The candidate for this role will have an opportunity to gain work experience in 5G wireless development, 4G R&D, mobile systems, and 3GPP as well as Radio Integration; Hardware / Software Integration to Remote Radio Units. 

You will:

  • Work closely with FPGA Prime to own the planning, organization, and execution of FPGA development and verification  

  • Work closely with other Radio Unit development teams to ensure timely development and integration of the Radio Unit  

  • Work on FPGA block integration and lab verification of FPGA functionality

  • Work on solutions that will aligned with 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance (O-RAN) specifications for 4G and 5G networks in the open RAN ecosystem

Essential Requirements

  • Knowledgeable in NR/LTE/eCPRI/CPRI/PTP protocol analysis and implementation with signal processing knowledge and background

  • Experience using Matlab for Mathematical analysis

  • Experience in developing FPGA functional specifications 

  • Knowledge of commercial FPGA solutions for 5G Radio Unit development 

  • Hands on experience in RTL design and verification techniques 

  • Knowledge in 4G and 5G Radio and/or subsystems architecture, implementation and ecosystem 

Desired Requirements

3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
