5G NR L1 Embedded Linux Principal Developer

What you’ll achieve

From applied research to advanced engineering, Dell’s 5G R&D team will design and develop ground-breaking products & solutions, as a first-ever go-to-market for Dell in this space. It’s a fascinating field of work. Your contributions will drive product architecture and implementation in support of building something from the ground up, all while working with colleagues across the business to ensure Dell products always lead the way. 

As a 5G NR L1 Embedded Linux Principal Developer , you will be responsible for developing technology and products and generating intellectual property. You will work with Dell’s 5G R&D team on 5G NR solution.

You will:

  • Develop 5NR Layer 1 software

  • Collaborate on tools and methodologies

  • Collaborate with product, hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams

  • Define system features, algorithms, and test scenarios

  • Mentor less experienced developers

Essential Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of software development fundamentals: interfaces, layers, modularity, testability, build systems, dependency management, etc.

  • Fluent in a scripting language, such as Python, as well as shell scripting

  • Experience with embedded Linux: boot loader, build environments, DTS, Linux drivers etc.

  • Advanced knowledge of networking and communication protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP, SSH)

  • Experience with source control (Git)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills       

Desirable Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience developing applications on Linux using C/C++

  • Experience with structured software development, as well as agile methodologies

  • Experience reading electronic schematics, as well as vendor provided data sheets and manuals

  • Experience developing Linux device drivers for PCI bus

  • Working knowledge in ARM architecture

  • Working knowledge in Yocto and buildroot

  • Knowledge of memory - NOR, NAND, SRAM, DRAM, AMBA, AXI, etc.

  • Knowledge of basic protocols - I2C, SPI, Quad-SPI and UART
