Principal Software Developer 5G RAN Layer 3 CU 

The Software Development team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. What you’ll achieve

We’re excited to announce that we’re continuing to build our new 5G wireless O-RAN team from scratch and we’re looking for talented embedded software developers to take part.  The Central Unit (CU) team has multiple openings for key roles in a new high-powered Ottawa R&D team.  If you enjoy working on a new product, new software, new team, deep desire to learn and collaborate with others, then we want to hear from you. 

You will:

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of a 5G gNB. Prepare, review, and evaluate 5G specifications. Contribute to the development and implementation of test strategies for 5G products and systems.
  • Work in a LEAN Agile environment, implement and test key RAN Layer 3 features using C++, fix defects in a timely manner
  • Part of a scrum team responsible for the continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) of the CU components. Work closely with the other development teams to ensure completeness, quality, and performance of the CU functionality.
  • As a Principal Developer you will have additional team leadership and coaching responsibilities.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of RAN software architecture and design.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in C/C++ programming.
  • Ability to be organized, goal-oriented, a self-starter, with a team focused mentality with a desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Desire to be part of a collaborative cutting edge team where everybody in the scrum team owns the deliverables and quality.
  • Typically requires 8+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree; or 3+ years with a PhD; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Desirable Requirements

  • Strong understanding of wireless technologies and standards, preferably in 5G, O-RAN, LTE; and RAN Layer 3 – RRC, SDAP, PDCP, NRUP and F1, E1, NG interfaces.
  • Experience working on carrier grade telecommunications products. Experience with Wireshark, gdb, GIT, Netconf YANG and the Atlassian toolset.
