The VMware Design team is looking for an experienced UX leader to unify the designers and experience for the vRealize suite products, including vRAI, Skyline, subscription manager, and license manager.

In this role, you will be one of six senior leaders who report to the Director of Cloud Management Product Design. This team is part of a larger, centralized UX team, that spans the globe and VMware’s product offerings. We're looking for someone who can build, drive, and execute on a vision for their team. At VMware, a product design manager focuses on developing and growing employees while also pushing the boundaries of design quality and process within their own team as well as the overall design team at VMware.

We're a team that moves quickly, upholds design quality, and values consistency and simplicity while staying focused on customer needs and outcomes. We work together and value "we" over "me". We believe in inclusion both within our team and in the way we build products and make that clear in the way we hire, design, and execute. We value growth and encourage, not just respect, our differences. We love what we do and build products that are used by hundreds of thousands of productive individuals and organizations around the world.

You’re who we’re looking for because:

  • You are excited and motivated by the opportunity to build great enterprise software

  • You quickly learn new technical domains for enterprise products

  • You provide constructive feedback in design reviews as well as to individuals in 1-1s

  • You are accountable, but know when to ask for help

  • You leveragyour past experience in design and user research to mentor team members

  • You bring your authentic self to work, including your healthy sense of humor (this is non-negotiable). We laugh a lot, and genuinely enjoy one another – and not just at happy hours.

You have a track record of:

  • Building strong partnerships with PMs and Engineers as well as executives

  • Building high-functioning teams that can deliver friction-free experiences on time, while meeting the needs of engineering and adheringto the design system

  • Supporting individual contributors so they can work to their fullest potential

  • Working with PM and engineering to prioritize and staff projects that need UX

  • Leading Agile teams, estimating work, and planning across sprints and quarters

  • Working with dev teams migrating from on-prem software to Cloud services

  • Managing UX for more than one product across multiple time zones inside and outside the US

  • Defining the UX strategy for a suite of products

  • Leveraging an existing design system, expressed in tools, like Sketch or Figma

  • Ensuring the success of products as well as individuals

  • Going deep into projects to understand and to resolve issues, while giving team members the freedom to work independently without you

Bonus points for domain knowledge of VMware software

While we’re not looking for a portfolio, we will expect to see examples of work you’ve led to completion that demonstrate the experience we are looking for. In addition, we’d like you to shareexamples of how you’ve mentored and helped UX professionals grow within an organization.
