VMware is looking for a Staff Product Security Engineer to join our SD-WAN security team. Reporting to the Director of Technical Operations as a part ofthe Technical Operations organization, our teamis responsible forensuring the security of SD-WAN products.
We are a DevOps team looking for people that enjoy diving deep on technical details, reduce product security risk through security development, and driving down vulnerabilities to further harden SD-WAN’s security posture. As the Staff Product Security Engineerfor SD-WAN products,you will:
Drive secure development lifecycle toidentifyand reduce product securityrisk
Demonstrate ability to triage product vulnerability report (internal or external sources)
Communicate internally and externally on security remediation work
Proactively drive product enhancements that improve security and customerbenefits
Work across the product architecture teams including web, backend, andhardware.
Collaborate withDevSecOpsto reduce security risk to ourSaaSProducts.
Triage vulnerabilitiesidentifiedthrough the bug bountyprogram.
Develop and promote secure development practices forengineers.
Working knowledge of one or more scripting or programming languages
Ability to work cross-functionally across VMware partner teams (product management, legal, privacy, central security teams).
Ability work interface with client security teams when needed.
Experienced in all aspects of the secure development lifecycle model.
Experience using vulnerability classification frameworks such asCWE,CVSS, and others.
Experience conducting and leading high-level and feature-level threat modeling.
Experience conducting detailed vulnerability risk analysis.
Experience with distributed systems and hybrid network topologies.
Experience in both, application and infrastructure security will be essential for this role.
Candidates should have:
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering, related technical field or equivalent on-the-job experience.
5+ years of software industry experience
2+ years of technical security experience include vulnerability assessment, threat modeling, infrastructure security, securitydesign.
2+ Experience with large-scale web applications and backend services.
Experience with commonly used systems development languages (C++, Java, Python…)
Demonstrated ability to mentor and partner with otherengineers.
In addition to the above, excellent presentation and communications skills combined with the passion to work in a team environment are key attributes for thisrole.
Ability toestablishrapport with various stake holders and clearly articulate problemstatements.
Has an exceptional time and prioritymanagement skills.
