What you’ll achieve

As an Engineering Project Manager, your responsibilities will include the detailed project management & coordination of hardware and software engineering deliverables for platform and software, Multi-Cloud, Converged Infrastructure (CI) & Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) engineering initiatives. Engineering Project Managers lead, deliver and are accountable for the successful engineering completion of complex Engineering initiatives.  Project managers are responsible for managing the end-to-end product lifecycle and this includes leading, managing engineering schedules, securing resources, risk management planning and clearly communicating project status to all levels.

  • Lead large and complex technical projects and a cross-functional extended engineering team in all phases of project management, including but not limited to communications, schedule development, risk, and change management.

  • Work seamlessly across a broad range of people, process, and tools to translate framework agreements into actionable Engineering project plans/workstreams spanning multiple Dell and Partner business units.

  • Develop and standardize a common framework, templates, tools, KPIs, to manage all aspects of engineering partnership development activities.

  • Exhibits expert ability in translating high level concepts into specific objectives and actionable plans

  • Coordinate engineering team meetings, communicate status, readiness, business issues, technical issues, resource requirements and their resolution across the organization and management.

  • Develop and manage the communication and coordination of engineering roadmap initiatives, partnership program status, status reports, program roadmaps, issues, and metrics across extended engineering teams and/or third-party partners, at different levels appropriate for engineering team members, department heads and division executives.

  • Escalate issues in an appropriate, timely manner.

  • Actively participate in resolution of issues and conflicts, internally as well as with third party partners.

  • Collaborates with Product Managers, Product Owners, Architects and Engineering leads to plan releases and ensure product backlog maintenance

  • Report consistent communication schedule progress, team status and issues to senior management

  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, creativity, and innovation

  • Drive the interlock of engineering requirements, dependencies and deliverables of a platform or product across a global matrix of engineering, validation, and operations

  • Lead weekly coordination meetings of functional extended engineering teams

  • Create and or maintain cross-functional engineering development schedules.

  • Plan, allocate, budget, and manage platform materials (e.g. prototypes, peripherals)

  • Maintains in-depth awareness of industry trends, business conditions and internal processes and practices to meet program delivery requirements

Essential Requirements

  • 8+ years program/project management required or related professional experience

  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification or any similar certification

  • Experience with Enterprise Agile methodologies

  • Technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

  • Track record of creating and delivering executive presentations

  • Skilled leading and working with geographically distributed teams

  • Able to prioritize projects and work seamlessly with various stakeholders.

  • Able to influence others to achieve results

  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-moving environment with competing business needs.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, time management, written, verbal, problem resolution and customer facing skills are required.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) or Scrum@Scale

  • Experience delivering virtualized compute, storage, or networking platforms.

  • Experience with Jira

  • 12+ years program/project management required or related professional
