Electrical Principal Engineer

Our Wireless Engineering team puts the spark into the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept to production. It takes experts in system architecture definition, design, analysis, prototyping, sourcing & the debugging and validation of layouts or routes to deliver state-of-the-art products for a changing world. We work closely with designers, cross-functional teams within Dell Technologies and suppliers to make sure electronic designs meet a range of requirements, including schedule, feature set, functionality and quality, as well as industry standards.

What you’ll achieve
The Antenna/RF System Engineering team delivers innovative antenna architecture and solutions for platform integration and design to support long term technology requirements to build the next-generation products leading technology trends. As an Electrical Principal Engineer in the Antenna/RF System Engineering, Wireless Design Group, you will be responsible for Wireless Innovation and Designing new Antenna Architecture Solutions. You will work with Platform Design Architecture Group on product designs delivering on next generation Wireless Innovation.


You will:

  • Design, simulate, integrate and validate antenna solutions from LF to mmWave frequencies and ork on driving antenna innovation for next generation products
  • Work with internal cross functional teams, ODM and supplier to deliver solutions designed
  • Generate Architecture requirements documentation and Design Specifications documentation to be executed
  • Drive suppliers and ODM to execute Front-End designs, and support Development / Execution teams as needed
  • Ensure solutions designed are ready for scaling with deployment

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelors with 10+ years experience or Masters/PhD with 8+ years experience (preferred) and experienced in the following tools: CST, XFdtd, ADS, HFSS
  • Have a proven track record of antenna designs for LF to mmWave experience through simulation, integration, validation and testing for consumer electronic devices as well as experience with antenna tuners, Power variation control solutions such as Time averaged SAR, Smart Transmit, PD, etc.
  • Understanding of mmWave solutions - simulation and modelling with insight to packaging, antenna arrays, isolation, high frequency circuit layouts, beamforming, etc.
  • Hands on experience with high frequency solutions, equipment, etc. for characterization and debug
  • Understanding of fundamental microwave theory & concepts such as Gain, Noise, VSWR, Power Gain expressions, scattering, transmission line theory, etc.


Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with multi radio device designs and an understanding of NFC/Wifi/BT/Cellular/mmWave/Wireless Charging system architectures
  • Additional tools experience: Creo, FloTHERM, Matlab, Labview and working with ODM partners is a plus as well as with regulatory requirements (FCC, CE, etc.), and with carrier requirements is a plus (AT&T, Verizon, etc.)
