Dell’s Unstructured Data Storage engineering group is looking for passionate Engineer with strong technical and analytical skills to join our team. In this role, you will work in a high-performing team of engineers, who work on innovative software projects and provide solutions to our customer’s most complex issues.

Dell Unstructured Data Storage (UDS) Product Group

Digital transformation starts with the data.  Customers are prioritizing AI, IoT, and analytics initiatives that depend on massive amounts of unstructured data.  In fact, IDC predicts that unstructured data volume will hit 40 Zettabytes in 2020, up from 4.4 Zettabytes in 2013.   Storing, managing, and extracting value from this sea of data is creating new challenges and customers are increasingly turning to Dell EMC for solutions.

Dell EMC is the undisputed industry leader for unstructured data storage.   Tens of thousands of customers have bet their business on UDS products including Isilon Scale-Out File Storage and ECS Object Storage. In addition, we are also working on Project Nautilus which is a key technology for IOT and streaming analytics. Moreover, Gartner has consistently recognized Dell EMC as the clear Magic Quadrant leader for Distributed File and Object Storage.  

Role Responsibilities

Work under the direction of a technical lead and within general software engineering practices to support the engineering development team in various activities, including :

  • Writing scripts for performance, testing, and data analysis
  • Review design documents, contribute with ideas and feedback
  • Working with developers to write and test software for Storage Devices
  • Documentation of work and results, test plans and providing status reports.
  • Review design documents, contribute with ideas and feedback
  • Run qualification tests, analyze results, and generate presentations to provide leadership with information and result summary

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including writing
  • Highly motivated, with ability to ramp quickly
  • Good understanding of Computer Science Foundations
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
  • Student working towards an Engineering Degree
  • Problem solving skills
  • Basic Knowledge of the Software Development Cycle

Preferences

  • Scripting knowledge with Perl or equivalent shell programming
  • C, C++ Programming, Java
  • Presentation skills
  • Knowledge of kernel/embedded systems programming
  • Multi-threaded, locking and memory management concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

You must be currently enrolled in a 4 year program to be eligible for an internship (expected grad year of 2020 or above). For our 2019 graduates, we encourage you to apply for our full time roles.
