We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Product Line Manager who knows how to define, validate and communicate product vision and strategy. You will be working in the Workload Packaging and Lifecycle (WPL) Program where you will help drive outcomes for our customers and internal teams delivering value to VMware Tanzu. The WPL program is responsible for providing consistent packaging and services management tools and APIs that are used by products across Tanzu which enables a cohesive user experience across the Tanzu Portfolio. From onboarding, expansion, to staying up to date - you will help our customers and internal teams move forward fast and consistently.
You will be responsible for:
Ensuring that the team is focused on solving the most valuable problem and leading the product strategy
Identifying opportunities based on customer, field and market evidence and data that informs the strategic roadmap.
Engaging with customers (internal and external) and field regularly to understand and inform the product strategy and roadmap.
Ensuring the engineering team understands “where they are going and why”
Leading the prioritization of product/problem area to deliver on the product roadmap and working collaboratively with the engineering team to ensure alignment.
Defining and measuring success criteria
Proactively working with relevant teams to ensure the product success and to support go to market activities - marketing, legal, sales etc.
Acting as an evangelist of the features and use-case to customers, outbound teams, leadership and also effectively representing VMware in various related industry conferences
Formulating a research plan, conducting the research, and communicating the outcomes of that research with the engineering team to inform the product roadmap
Conducting competitive analysis and market research to guide product planning
Working collaboratively with the team, stakeholders, field, and customers
Desired Skills & Experience:
8+ years product management experience
Experience working on enterprise software, especially on large scale distributed products
Experience with Kubernetes and/or experience working on API driven projects
Ability to breakdown complex problems into simple solutions focused on important customer needs
Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to teach others
Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making
Focused on data-driven approaches to solving problems, and accelerating the learning process to validate solutions
Experience with agile development methodology
Understanding of the IT operations or software development space with a passion for understanding the life of Enterprise IT Operators and Application Developers
Capable of quickly understanding technologies and architecture, and interpret and articulate them into customer-facing implications
Engineering background is a plus
