Kubeapps needs an experienced software engineer to ensure the evolution of Kubeapps in a sustainable, maintainable and extensible way.

On your daily basis you will be responsible for researching problems independently (including making incremental progress when faced with technical ambiguity) and writing meaningful design proposal documents that are broken into discrete parts identifying the separate concerns for discussion.

As an engineer on this team, you will:

  • Review and guide development of services, collaborating with other engineers.

  • Offer guidance on leveraging available tooling and infrastructure.

  • Guarantee performance, scalability and reliability of the solution.

  • Contribute to product direction in design discussions.

  • Contribute to an open-source project.

  • Support our open-source community, including: answering users' requests, understand community's problems to design generic and valuable solutions for all our users

  • Work on proofs of concept, technical designs and development of new features.

  • Provide respectful & useful code reviews.

  • Contribute to our Git repositories. We use a Git-centric workflow to develop, test and deploy our solutions.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and write high-quality engineering documentation.

  • Work in a remote-based team, proactively sharing context.

  • Learn and share experience and knowledge with others

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • You will contribute to the evolution of the Kubeapps project, keeping it up-to-date, designing and developing new features, designing automated tests, improving the project documentation and answering questions from users.

  • Deep knowledge of how the Kubernetes API works and how the Cloud Native applications are deployed in production-ready environments is required.

  • We also expect you to look into the current Kubeapps code, explore the Tanzu ecosystem, do in-depth security & performance analysis for individual features and present insights to the rest of the team.
