What you’ll achieve
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software basis the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment creating software solutions.

• Participate in the preparation, review and evaluation of software/storage requirements and specifications
• Prepare written specifications for tasks of varied complexity from verbal requirements
• Use defined software lifecycle methodologies
• Review and implement test strategies for software products

Essential Requirements
• Good knowledge of programming languages; operating systems; firmware; BIOS; device drivers; databases; system, network, operating system, and application administration; embedded software/firmware; tools and utilities, as applicable
• Knowledge of server, storage, networking and client technologies
• Ability to code/debug moderately sophisticated programs using design specifications
• Knowledge of software architectures and applications
• 2–5 years of related experience

Software Engineer 2, IEO Systems Management


Location: St. Petersburg, Russia

Dell’s IEO (Infrastructure Engineering & Operations) organization provides a set of shared services for engineering labs and engineering teams across all divisions of ISG, supporting product development.  The Security & Configuration Management Services Team within IEO has team members in Russia and Ireland and is responsible for delivering security automation for multiple device types in engineering labs across the globe.  Our goal is to provide an enterprise-level service to device users and lab managers.  This enables them to secure their devices from vulnerabilities in a self-service manner at a time of their choosing, whether on a per device level or in bulk. Although the service leverages multiple underlying technologies to achieve its goal it will be presented seamlessly as a single service and single experience to users and lab managers.

We are providing an opportunity to help drive a unique project of corporate-wide impact and to influence the strategic decisions on how to execute it. We need a System Quality Engineer who will help testing a new service, comprised of several microservices and 3rd party System Management products.

Candidates will have strong technical, quality assurance, programming and analytical skills and have proven experience of operating both independently and within the team. They should be experienced with automation of testing software products and be open to new technologies and different ways of thinking about how to solve problems.

The successful candidate report to the Manager, Systems Management, who is based in St Petersburg, Russia, but as part of a globally distributed team must have strong English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in analyzing and clarifying requirements and come up with QA documentation (test strategy, plans and test lists) to deliver quality features
  • Contribute into QA automation activities by implementing new tests, update and fix defects in existing ones
  • Perform regular QA cycles (both manual and automated parts), analyze the runs results, file bugs, and create QA reports upon that
  • Participate in cross-geo communications between team members
  • Contribute into documentation for the team and share the knowledge with peers

Essential Requirements:

  • University Degree with a major in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 1+ years of software development experience
  • Proven QA experience (QA theory, test design, etc.)
  • Proven programming experience preferably in the QA automation area
  • Hands-on knowledge of Python
  • Readiness and ability to learn new technologies
  • Great communication skills and collaborative teamwork-oriented mind
  • Understanding of agile software development principles and best practices

Desirable Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience in working with Linux systems
  • Understanding of OOP
  • Understanding basic principles of building Web applications, SOA, RESTful API
  • Message bus based systems experience, RabbitMQ in particular
  • Experience working with both SQL and noSQL databases (preferably MySQL and ELK)
  • Understnding Java
  • Experience with deploying applications into container environment (Kubernetes)
  • Experience working with CI/CD systems
  • Experience working with source control systems
  • Experience working with bug tracking, collaboration tools
  • Knowledge about cloud systems, virtualization, remote systems access
  • Experience working in remote virtual environments is a plus
