Dell Infrastructure Delivery Services (IDS) deploys server, storage, networking, and virtualization solutions for customers globally. These deployments are planned and documented, and then executed by delivery engineers either onsite or remotely. There are numerous and repetitive steps for each deployment including configuring hardware, installing and configuring operating systems, configuring/provisioning storage, and installing/configuring virtualization environments.
IDS is looking for candidates to assist with developing automation solutions for deployments that reduces planning and implementation effort (measured as reduced time on task), decreases errors/mistakes, and increases quality/consistency of deployments. The automation must be portable and configurable since they will be executed across different customer environments and be easily understood/operated by delivery engineers with varying levels of scripting capability.
The ideal candidate will have strong scripting/programming skills and experience working in IT administration, DevOps, or deployment/consulting. Specifically, experience automating the configuration of hardware and software on remote systems is preferred.
Current automation is primarily written in C# and PowerShell (with vendor specific modules\libraries), however Python and Bash may also be used when interfacing with Linux systems.
