Team Description

The Dell Corporate Strategy team advises our CEO and executive leadership team to help drive the long-term strategic direction and growth of the company. This role is specifically part of the Corporate Strategy Research, Analytics & Planning Team which helps to identify and evaluate forward-looking growth opportunities (“research agenda”), support strategic planning, and develop detailed market assessments, including sizing and quantification. We’re looking for strategy, technology, and market intelligence industry professionals to join our team.

Example focus areas include: 

  • Thought leadership on the future state of the industry (e.g., economics of the edge) and potential impact to Dell’s overall strategy 
  • Counsel to senior executives on “needle moving” growth drivers, strategic acquisitions and partnerships, portfolio optimization, etc.
  • Evolve company strategic narrative as modern technology company; improve investor / shareholder perception and drive industry influence

Description of Role

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technology strategy background with a firm grasp on the strategist’s toolbox. This person will bring a real passion for complex problem solving, digging deep into the data while keeping the big picture at the fore and working effectively with cross-functional teams. Person will also bring experience in the technology ecosystem with an appetite to expand knowledge and industry expertise.

Our offices are located in Round Rock TX, and Hopkinton MA with support for remote work options. This role is highly visible, offering exposure to Dell Technologies Senior Leadership Team, allowing you to build lasting relationships and deep industry expertise. Gaining experience in Corporate Strategy provides a strong foundation for future opportunities within the business.

Responsibilities: 

  • Gather research and analyze data to drive an informed forward-looking point of view on emerging trends and topics in the technology/IT space
  • Identify and assess new market growth opportunities, including quantitative analysis (e.g. TAM, revenue, segmentation, etc.)
  • Develop strategic decision-making frameworks combining business judgement, technical understanding and a data-driven mindset
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire portfolio of Dell businesses in order to analyze strategic decisions impacting multiple divisions 
  • Understand/stay current on technology industry trends and competitive landscape and related Dell implications
  • Act as a thought leader on Dell’s strategy
  • Lead communication of forward-looking insights with Dell executives and key stakeholders

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a strategic function focusing on technology (e.g. strategy, market intelligence, and/or competitive intelligence in technology/cloud company, technology practice of strategy consulting firm, etc. or similar role)
  • Demonstrated hypothesis-driven problem-solving orientation with exceptional ability to create structured quantitative and qualitative analyses 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to formulate and deliver insights around complex business problems in a thoughtful and persuasive manner  
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a strong academic background
  • Comfortable working under demanding deadlines and producing key senior-executive deliverables
  • Deep understanding of IT/software technology markets, trends, and dynamics
  • End-2-end project/team management experience
  • Passion for technology

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Technical or software experience and/or technical degree such as in engineering or computer science
  • Strong personal initiative and good judgment; desire to succeed in a demanding environment
  • MBA or other related advanced degree
