Senior Accounting Advisor

What you’ll achieve
As a Senior Accounting Advisor, you will resolve financial support issues and inquiries from both internal and external customers and work with relevant non-accounting personnel in reviewing contracts to confirm company policies are adhered to and financial reporting requirements of the company are met. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team with a wide range of technical accounting topics and will provide opportunities to work with a broad range of people across the company.

We are looking for an experienced professional who is interested in learning technical accounting while also understanding the operational side. This person will need to be a motivated, self-starter with commitment to quality. This person must be an excellent communicator, both verbally and written. Strong people skills are a must due to the wide range of people at differing levels this person will work with. As with all employees, we require a high level of business ethics and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quarterly accounting activities including journal entry and account reconciliation preparation
  • Plan, organize and run quarterly technical accounting updates for the CFO organization
  • Project-based work ranging from assisting with technical projects to process improvement to researching accounting guidance
  • Policy work including: assisting team in developing and implementing Dell Technologies policies, reviewing policies prior to publication, making policy updates, preparing presentations, managing and improving the intranet site repository for policies, managing the review cadence of policies, and communicating policy changes
  • Work with other technical accounting team members to manage the inflow of technical accounting requests and ensure that questions are being managed and answered timely
  • Monitor, recently issued accounting guidance, provide updates to the team for assessment and assist in writing or reviewing the memos documenting the accounting conclusion
  • As necessary, provide quality checks on certain documents created by the Corporate Reporting organization


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 5-8 years of professional accounting experience (Public accounting and/or publicly traded corporate accounting experience preferred)
  • Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently and within a team
  • Sense of urgency.  Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.  Flexible and adaptive
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Accounting system experience: Oracle
