Dahailia's Path to Success: Career Progression Journey at Dell Technologies

What is your current role? 

Currently, I am a Field Product Manager for our Displays & Client Peripherals (D&CP) portfolio in the Client Solutions Sales team in the Netherlands. In this role, I work closely with the international D&CP team, senior management, sales teams, customers, and partners. I ensure strategy, products, and solutions are understood internally and externally through customer engagement and partner sales enablement. This includes customer visits, events, training, managing the product lifecycle, increasing sales growth, and expanding share in the Netherlands.

Did you join Dell Technologies as part of a graduate program? If yes, how did the graduate program contribute to your development?

No, I was not in a graduate program. Instead, I started at Dell full-time straight out of university.

How many roles did you have during your tenure at Dell Technologies? At Dell, I worked in four roles across various teams and fields.  1) Channel Account Manager: Worked with our channel partners. 2) Internal Sales Representative: Worked on the enterprise team for our top multinational customers. In the meantime, I was selected for the Future Ready External Program, a development program for those interested in an external and customer-facing role.  3) Account Executive: Engaged in many client deployment projects on the Channel Services Sales team, something I was super interested in.  4) Field Product Manager for D&CP portfolio: Working on the Client Solutions Sales team, which is in line with my main passion; driving our customers' business through their best possible workplace.

How has Dell Technologies contributed to your success? 

Thanks to guidance of the Future Ready External program and the Future Leader Program, I grew professionally and developed many new skills. This kept me motivated and determined to push myself towards my personal goals. Furthermore, the work-life balance at Dell is great. There are a lot of benefits and programs to ensure employees have a healthy balance, which definitely has had a positive impact on my performance.

What is the most pivotal feedback you received during your tenure that has shaped your journey?  Life is a journey, not a destination.  We often tend to forget to: 1) Be in the moment and enjoy the present 2) Learn from the steps we are taking toward our goals.  As an ambitious young professional, it can be overwhelming thinking about what is possible and hoping you end up at your final destination as soon as possible. However, it is essential to give yourself time to gain experience and learn throughout your personal journey.

What are you most proud of?

I am ambitious and determined, which can bring some challenges since I am constantly desiring to accomplish a lot. During the past few years, I have discovered how to be successful in day-to-day business and combined this with other activities within Dell such as development programs, employee resource groups, and also became a mother. I am proud of the professional and personal development I have had until now and the balance I have in combining all the things I love to do most.

Did you ever think you would be where you are today?

Not specifically! Of course, I had an idea where I wanted to be in five or ten years, but I could not have imagined the opportunities and steps I have taken in my professional career thus far.

What would you say to encourage other graduates to join Dell Technologies?

There is a lot of opportunity for growth within Dell. Many career paths have a strong focus on personal development. I highly recommend you kick off your career as a young professional at Dell!
