Mariana is a Data Engineer at Dell Technologies Panama, and her role is to transform data into relevant information. Mariana shares her experience working at Dell with us, highlighting the company’s flexible culture, mentoring, and celebrating wins and recognitions.

What is the best part about working at Dell Technologies?

For me, the best part of working at Dell, without a doubt, is the balance between work and life. Personally, I tend to push myself to the limits, but here, with the support of my team, I've learned to face challenges with a relaxed attitude. During the pandemic, I had the opportunity to attend both my bachelor's and master's degree graduations in the same year, thanks to my manager's understanding and the company's flexibility.

Also, I’d like to add that beyond work, Dell values the human aspect. We have regular fun events where the team comes together to share knowledge. It's not just about professional growth; it's about building a community within the workplace, which makes Dell truly special.

Have you been a part of any training or coaching?

During my time at Dell, I've experienced both sides of mentorship. In the beginning, I needed help with my Python skills, and a colleague coached me by providing resources like Udemy courses. Simultaneously, I found myself teaching Python to my colleagues and becoming a mentor myself. This exchange of knowledge is a fundamental aspect of Dell Technologies' culture.

How could you find a mentor at Dell?

Finding mentors here is incredibly easy. You can naturally connect with colleagues who are willing to help. Additionally, the company provides a structured platform for mentorship. Through this platform, I reached out to a data engineer in the U.S., and she generously shared her experiences, guiding me on my career path.

What are you most proud of about your career here?

One of my proudest moments was leading a significant project just after joining the company. Despite challenges and a hiatus, I managed to push the project forward, bringing in difficult-to-manage data. This project's success led to multiple Inspire Awards, including the Game Changer Award. It's not just a recognition; it's a validation of my contributions and something I'm incredibly proud of.

What is the Inspire Aspire Award?

The Inspire Award is a recognition system within Dell, ranging from certificates to vouchers and financial incentives. The Game Changer Award, a part of the Inspire Awards, is given to individuals who bring substantial value to the business. It's not just about hard work; it's about tangible results, whether it's increased revenue or gaining new customers.

Mariana's words are a testament to the company's commitment to fostering growth and creating a nurturing environment where every employee's success is celebrated.
