Firmware Principal Engineer
State-of-the-art products demand state-of-the-art firmware, and that’s the role of our Firmware Engineering team. We lead and deliver the analysis, design, programming, debugging, troubleshooting or modification of software for firmware applications. Our team oversees programming activities involving analog and digital hardware as well as software operating systems. We also influence product development at all stages. In short, we use the latest technology to modify existing solutions, in addition to developing innovative new software and firmware solutions

What you’ll achieve
Design, development, debugging, and testing of BIOS software for complex systems. Responsible for the design and development of BIOS using a range of applicable technologies (e.g., programming languages, compilers, assemblers, debuggers, ITP's, Scopes, Logic Analyzers and other tools) and state-of-the-art software engineering methodologies. Work closely with ODM partners and a team of software engineers to deliver a high quality BIOS for use in Dell's server product line.
You will:
Participate in product development in all stages from planning and design to development and testing. Good candidates should be proactive in managing work including meeting schedules, identifying risks, and delivering high quality software.
Hands-on experience in all aspects of full life cycle software development (creating specifications, requirements reviews, creating design requirements and driving design reviews, code development, debugging, validation)
Working with external, cross functional, and internal teams (including systems and test engineers and product support) to drive creation of new feature requirement specifications
Looking at future initiatives and feature definition, development tasks, and working with cross functional teams focused on:Hardware decisions for future products, Vendor choices, Validating technology readiness for future products and knowledge, awareness and application of current and evolving new industry standards
Working with external, cross functional, and internal teams (including systems and test engineers and product support) to drive creation of new feature requirement specifications

Essential Requirements
Bachelor of electronic engineering or computer engineering or computer science or equivalent degree
10+ years of current software development experience, including: 8+ years programming experience in C/C++ and/or assembly languages and/or UEFI development and 4+ years leading technical teams
Driving requirement specification reviews and thorough understanding of proper requirements documentation
Breaking down complex technical problems for communication to managers and executives
Proficiency at filtering and disseminating information and tasks to other team members
Desirable Requirements
Driving projects successfully from inception to production, contributing to technical and behavioral definition during all product phases
Candidates should enjoy working in a fast moving, team-oriented environment. Being comfortable as the single point of contact for key technologies
