What you’ll achieve

If you’re interested in taking part in a once in a career opportunity, Dell is looking for a Senior RF Designer with expertise in 4G and 5G Radio development, providing technical leadership in the RF design team, to be part of a brand new, built from the ground up, high powered Ottawa R&D team.  The team will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing a technology new to Dell for addressing the demands of the 5G Radio subsystem for operators and to help our customers to exploit this significant market evolution. The candidate for this role will have significant work experience in radio architecture and amplifier development, 4G and 5G R&D, mobile systems, and 3GPP as well as a strong background in systemization, calibration and test development related to Remote Radio Units. 

You will:

• Design and validation low power RF components for 5G Radio Units
• Create link budget, frequency planning
• Implement schematic and layout design using ecad tool. (Concept HDL, Allegro) and ork collaboratively with system designers, thermal and mechanical designers, and software design leads on Radio Unit architectures
• Utilize RF simulation tool to help realized RF components. (ADS, AWR, Matlab etc.). Perform RF parameters measurement (NF, IP3, P1dB, RL, etc.)
• Create design documents (Design Specification, Verification Specification, Verification Report etc.)
• Own vendor technical relationship and device selection and mentor and guide junior designers

Essential Requirements

• Proven record of working on large mobile network systems either as a member of a network equipment manufacturer or as a radio technology provider 
• Detailed understanding of 3GPP specifications and worldwide spectrum and telecommunications regulations 
• Organized, goal-oriented technical expert to guide, follow, and effectively collaborate with knowledgeable development peers and business partners.
• Basic knowledge of DPD and how it effects on RF chain
• Working knowledge of RF lab equipment (Network, Signal and Spectrum Analyzer etc.). Knowledge in 4G and 5G Radio and/or subsystems architecture, implementation and ecosystem and proven track record taking designs to volume production

Desirable Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Participate in Next generation architectural investigations/proposals

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The total salary range for this position is $123,250 - $159,500 CAD.
