The Marketing Development Program is designed to attract and retain top talent from Colleges, Universities, Community Colleges, and Vocational Programs, as well as Diversity & Inclusion conferences to build the marketing talent pipeline. Program members experience four 6-month rotations with different marketing teams, gaining valuable hands-on experience and exposure to various marketing disciplines. Members also get access to exclusive trainings, career coaching, executive exposure, and networking opportunities to help accelerate their success at Dell.

Currently working on the Production & Broadcast team in Experiential Events, Catherine reflects on her first year as a member of the Marketing Development Program:

How did you start your career with Dell Technologies and how did you get involved with the Marketing Development Program?

I started my career at Dell through the Global Marketing Internship Program, in which I worked under Michelle Daniels and Chandler Beacham in Global Brand. I loved my internship SO much and was so excited to hear about the Marketing Development Program!

What were your first thoughts about the program? Did you have any doubts?

I was really excited for the program and about how many opportunities that it brought. I was worried about what my first rotation would be, but I was placed with the best team and learned so much already. I also wasn't sure how the rotations worked or how we were placed, but it has been such a great experience thus far. They matched us with our interests, and we had the opportunity to rank our favorite positions.

Please share a bit about your current role and any past roles within the program.

In my current role, I get to work on the Dell Technologies' Production & Broadcast (DTPB) team in Experiential Events. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time abut content production from my extremely talented team. I have also learned so much about being a good teammate in general. I have been most impressed with how well my team works together, and how they utilize everyone's unique strengths to come together and continuously create something beautiful. Their flexibility, boldness, passion, and creativity truly have inspired me daily, and it is clear that my team loves what they do.

Are you able to make an impact as a member of the program and are your inputs valued?

Each day, I am so lucky to be surrounded by people who make me feel like my opinions are valued and important! It was slightly intimidating to come onto a team of people who are the best of the best at what they do, because with much less experience than them, what could I offer? However, they have made me feel like my fresh perspective and willingness to learn is very important and respected. Having the support of my team has really allowed me to grow and helped me always put myself out there unapologetically.

How has your experience been as a member of the Marketing Development Program?

My experience as a member of the MDP has been so spectacular. Our MDP managers & mentors are the best, and my peers are beyond talented and kind. The DTPB team has welcomed me with open arms and taught me so much. The entire Dell Technologies community has given me confidence and many opportunities to grow. Being able to have visibility into different parts of marketing and learn about what I am passionate about will have a lasting impact on me, as well as give me a great trajectory my life-long career.

What is your favorite part about being a member of the Marketing Development Program?

My favorite part about being a member of MDP is how many friends I've made! All across the company, I have made so many different types of connections. Networking is highly encouraged at Dell Technologies and has allowed me to meet some of the most interesting, creative, and loving people that I've been able to call my new friends. No matter what team you're on or the career level, people at Dell see each other as humans first which encourages a great environment and meaningful relationships.

Would you recommend the program to other graduates?

I would 100% recommend this program to graduates! This experience has been so eye-opening and exciting, and it has only just begun. It has also tested and strengthened me professionally and personally.
