Anna Gedevani: Progressing in Dell's Marketing Development Program

Anna Gedevani | Analyst, Marketing Development Program | Texas, USA

Originally from Charlotte, NC, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2023 with a B.S. in Business Administration. After interning at Dell Technologies during the summer of my junior year, I joined the Marketing Development Program (MDP) full-time after graduation. I now call Austin, TX, home. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, painting, running, and practicing yoga.

I am currently in my fourth rotation in the MDP, working as a Retail Digital Marketing Specialist on the NA CSB Marketing Team within the Online and Media Activation organization. In this role, I work on both the Retail and Dell.com direct sides of the business. My responsibilities on the retail side include managing digital marketing campaigns, creative project management, campaign dashboard reporting, and supporting the optimization of new product launches. On the direct side, I work on data analytics and lead, manage, and present our competitive analysis to stakeholders in the United States and Canada. My prior rotations were on the Global Forums Team, Business Unit Marketing Analytics Team, and within Global Partner Marketing.

Winning Together is one of the pillars of our culture code that resonates with me the most. It’s evident through the people, global teams, and collaborative work environment across Dell.

Anna G.

Analyst, Marketing Development Program

Why did you decide to join MDP after graduation?

I knew I enjoyed marketing but wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do full-time. The structure of the MDP offers a unique opportunity to discover the type of work you enjoy. I was drawn to the dynamic nature of a rotational program, as I knew it would push me outside my comfort zone and foster continuous learning and growth. I wanted to join a company after graduation that truly values development for early-career professionals and provides a diverse set of hands-on experiences in marketing. Dell Technologies and the MDP matched these qualities, making it an ideal choice for my plans after college.

Can you share a memorable moment or experience from your time in the program that stands out to you?

At our MDP Conference this past January, my cohort met in person for the first time since we joined the program. As part of our third semester, we worked together on a business simulation competition. While we completed most of this simulation virtually, I really valued being in one room with everyone to close out the last and most important week. We collaborated very well together in person and managed to make quite a comeback, placing first in our simulation!

Could you highlight any standout projects or opportunities you’ve had a chance to work on as part of the MDP program?

I had the incredible opportunity to attend the 2024 Texas Conference for Women alongside other Marketing Development Program members. The theme this past year was "Power in Unity," emphasizing the strength we find in coming together and supporting one another. The conference was held right here in Austin, TX, and was filled with powerful insights and motivational stories from some truly remarkable keynote speakers, including Isabel Allende, Sara Blakely, Tabitha Brown, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

How has the program fostered a sense of community and collaboration between participants, and how might this benefit new members?

The MDP fosters a sense of community globally across all four cohorts. Throughout the year, we have two sets of conferences and skills workshops that include a variety of speaker sessions, networking opportunities, and bonding activities for the program to come together. This gives you an opportunity to collaborate with people in the program you may not interact with on a day-to-day basis. All new members are paired with a “buddy” from a cohort above them, providing a safe space to ask questions, get familiar with the program and navigate a career at Dell. I have really enjoyed being involved in this aspect from both the mentee and mentor sides. When I first joined the MDP, my buddy was a great person to come to with any questions, and as I gained experience through the MDP, I was able to be a buddy to a new member in the program.

How do you see the MDP shaping your future career at Dell?

The MDP has given me the opportunity to expand my skill set across a variety of roles in marketing. I’ve gained experience in project management, analytics, communications, creative work and many other areas. The MDP has helped me become more agile, adaptable, and comfortable dealing with ambiguity. Through the fast-paced nature of onboarding onto a new team every six months for two years, I have grown in my professionalism, business acumen, and overall, as a well-rounded marketing professional. I’m extremely grateful for the range of opportunities I’ve experienced as a participant in the MDP, and I’m excited to see where I go from here and where I will land post-program at Dell.

How does Dell’s company culture influence your day-to-day work and overall job satisfaction?

Through the MDP, I have been fortunate enough to work across a variety of teams from around the globe. Dell’s culture thrives on openness and a willingness to collaborate, grow together, and learn from one another. Throughout Dell, and especially within the MDP, having the support of team members who want to see you develop and grow allows us to win together and drive the business forward.

What is your biggest learning from your time at Dell?

Don’t be afraid to fail, and when you do fail, fail fast. I’ve heard this expression throughout my time here at Dell Technologies, and I think it’s very valuable. Trying goes a long way, especially when you think you’ve hit a roadblock. Learn from your mistakes, ask questions, and apply those learnings as you move forward.
