I'm Anusha Rajasimha, a Senior Analyst in Program/Project Management at Dell's India Center of Excellence (COE). I lead Communications for the India COE, focusing on employee engagement and employer branding. It has been an incredible four years at Dell, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience!
I started as an intern right after graduating with a Post Graduate Degree in Management (PGDM). Three months into my internship, I was offered a full-time position.
What defines me are the four 'Es' - Energetic, Enthusiastic, Empathetic, and Empowering. I thrive on bringing positive energy to the workplace and love going to the office every day!
On a personal note, I'm an avid traveler who loves making memories, especially at beaches, which rejuvenate me and bring a sense of contentment. I'm also a huge automobile enthusiast and a motorcycle rider.

I always knew Dell was an amazing company to work for, but it was the work culture that truly drew me in. During my campus placement drive, I sat through the interviews without expecting to crack the Dell interview. To my surprise, I was selected, and that day was indeed a life-changer for me.

Tell us about your internship experience.
I was hired as an intern during the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant working from home. It was a completely new experience for me, being my first job and a remote one at that. Everything was new—scheduling meetings, getting used to Outlook, and navigating the various resources Dell offers. Fortunately, I had amazing mentors who helped me learn quickly by encouraging me to ask even the smallest questions. One piece of advice I would give to interns is to make use of all the resources available to you. You can learn so much during your internship period.
Tell us about your Employee Resource Group (ERG) participation.
I love the ERG space because it helps a group of people with similar aims achieve their goals. ERGs are not just for learning but also for having fun! I'm a part of all eight ERGs in India and make it a point to attend most of the events and activities. ERGs are a great place to make connections and give me a sense of belonging. The part I love the most about ERGs is the 'Community Impact' activities, which allow me to give back to the community.

Tell us about your communications projects.
My communications projects are broadly divided into two categories: internal communications and external communications. Under internal communications, one major ongoing project is the monthly pan-Dell India newsletter, ZoomIn, where we cover customer success stories, awards and recognitions received by Dell India team members, ERG events, and more. Additionally, I work on projects like facilities branding and employee engagement. For external communications, I facilitate thought leadership articles, quotes, and podcasts of our leaders on various media publications.
What opportunities are there for career growth and development in this role/area at Dell?
Having experience in communications is a plus because it means you understand the company well and can think from a reader's perspective. Communications play a vital role in many areas, including Facilities, EHS, HR, and more. Marketing is another interesting space to explore after communications, such as brand marketing or product marketing. I strongly believe in the saying, "Love the job you do and do the job you love!"
What skills/mindsets/talents help someone be successful in this role?
Passion is the most important thing. To be a Communications Specialist, you need to be very passionate about the projects you undertake. Attention to detail is vital because even a small grammatical error can convey the wrong message. Creativity is also crucial, especially for employee engagement; you need to think from the reader's perspective to make content exciting. Lastly, stakeholder management is essential since we deal with stakeholders from different regions and organizations.
What piece of advice would you give to your early career self? What's one impactful piece of advice you've received in your career journey so far?
A senior leader recently emphasized the difference between networks and connections. He said, "It's good that you're building your network, but do you know the difference between networks and connections? A network can be someone you just say hi to, an acquaintance. But a connection is someone with whom you have deeper conversations, like career discussions." This advice left me pondering and has made me focus on building meaningful connections this year.
