Ayaka's Career PathAyaka N. | Senior Advisor at the APJ Demand & Supply Dept. | Japan Originally Published: May 11, 2022
Q: Please introduce yourself and your role at Dell Technologies A: My name is Ayaka N., and I am a Senior Advisor at the APJ Demand & Supply Department. I am based in Tokyo and I report to the APJ region. My current role is to analyze market trends, supply-demand, and shipment trends. In addition, my role’s objectives are identifying opportunities, tradeoffs, impacts, and risks to revenue.
Q: What is the feature in your career path? A: I joined Dell Technologies in 2011 right after I graduated from University. I experienced several departments in the past eleven years, but I started my career as a Small Business inside sales rep working at Miyazaki. Two years later, I moved to the Kawasaki head office. I spent three years in the Medium Business team. I’ve also gotten a chance to move to the OEM solution department as an inside sales rep. I was assigned to Global accounts and started to work closely with global project members. I not only experienced working with the sales team, but also the operational team, such as engineers, manufacturing teams, and product groups. This experience led me to become a Project Manager in the OEM team in 2019. At the end of 2021, I started a new journey as a demand planner, to put myself in a more challenging position in Dell’s global community. Although I’ve been working at Dell Technologies for eleven years, I feel as if I have entered a new company every time I started a new position at Dell.
Q: Why have you changed your jobs and roles? A: There were opportunities, and I was ready to jump up to the next level at each moment. I didn’t intend to change my career most of the time. All I did every day was face the customers and problems sincerely. My knowledge and experience have been developed, and they become richer by handling everyday jobs. This experience led me to spread my interests wider.
Q: What has helped you develop your career? A: Thankfully, my leaders and team members always encouraged me to take a new chance when I tried to make a change. I met many colleagues who enjoy their roles no matter their age and gender. They inspired me to keep taking on challenging opportunities.
Q: What do you like most about Dell? A: Dell never limits me because of my age or gender. I didn’t imagine that I could experience this much in one company when I started at Dell in 2011. Dell Technologies is a very big company, and the opportunities are equally massive.
