I’m Edison, but most people call me Ed. I’m passionate about music, books, movies, TV shows, crafts—I’m even learning crochet —as well as meaningful conversations. I’m currently a marketing student and in my second year as an intern at Dell, working with the Talent Marketing and Engagement team. Working on this team has been incredible because I’ve had the chance to connect with colleagues from the United States, India, Panama, Slovakia, and Taiwan, supporting their projects and enriching my experience, all while working from Eldorado, Brazil.
What drew you to apply and what were your initial expectations when you started the internship?
When it comes to job opportunities and growth, Dell was always on my radar. Working at an international multicultural company with a strong open-door culture and countless opportunities to learn and grow inspired me to apply. After applying for and entering the company, I had high expectations for learning, autonomy, growth, and opportunities. Those were quickly surpassed. Not only did I experience all of that, but I was also trusted to support other teams, which gave me insight into different areas of operation. This experience inspired me to help my team implement improvements for better results. This was only possible because I was heard. My opinion mattered from day one. I wasn’t just a number; I was encouraged to share ideas and learn throughout the process. Undoubtedly, having the chance to connect with people from other fields and marketing areas opened my eyes to the whole world of possibilities inside Dell. Everyone is very welcoming and willing to listen, assist, and guide you through your career development. At Dell, I’ve met numerous mentors who helped me choose my best path within the company.
What were some of the most exciting projects you worked on during your internship?
One of my favorite projects was during my first year when I had the opportunity to script and record “A Day in the Life of a Dell Intern.” The results exceeded my expectations and our video boosted engagement on our social media channels, with high view counts and significant interaction.
What skills or knowledge did you gain while interning and how do you think your experience will help you in your new role?
I’ve developed numerous skills during my time at Dell, from soft skills to technical expertise. I improved my proficiency in various tools and programs, learned how to organize myself better, present confidently, lead projects, and communicate effectively. These are skills I’ll carry throughout my career. Being able to grow so much in a short time led to amazing outcomes—the best one being my transition to a full-time role. Entering the last phase of my internship, I received the news every intern hopes for: I was accepted into the Marketing Development Program (MDP). From the offer until now, I’m still over the moon! I’ll officially start on March 2nd, 2026, with onboarding in Austin, Texas. I’m excited to meet the other participants, exchange knowledge, explore different marketing areas, work on bigger projects, and give my best to help Dell grow while growing with it.
What are you looking forward to learning or achieving in the Marketing Development Program?
I look forward to continuing my development at Dell. I want to deepen my knowledge of the company’s marketing structures—especially product marketing and brand communication—take ownership of larger projects, strengthen my leadership skills, and turn all my experience into impactful results for the company.
What advice would you give to other interns hoping to transition to full-time roles?
If you’re an intern, especially at Dell, take full advantage of your time to grow. Seek knowledge, put it into practice, and remind others you’re there to help. Be open to feedback, take ownership of projects, and schedule one on one meetings with your team, managers, and people in areas you’re interested in. Build a presentation about yourself to show where you are and where you want to be. Be present and make the most of every project—it’s a chance for growth. And most importantly, never give up. Even if you’re in the final stage of your program, your efforts will pay off.
How are you going to spend your time before starting the program?
Until the MDP program starts, I plan to take a few days off to binge-watch a horror TV show about a terrifying clown (Welcome to Derry), finish reading Dostoevsky, and improve my crochet skills.
