Eldorado Alpha8: The Cutest Dog that Chose Dell Technologies Brazil as a Home

Meet Eldorado Alpha8, a sweet and playful 8-year-old dog, and everyone’s new friend at the Dell Technologies office in Eldorado do Sul, Brazil.  

   

In May 2024, the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, experienced the largest flood in its history, destroying and displacing thousands of homes, families and pets. The main headquarters of Dell Technologies Brazil is in Eldorado, one of the cities most affected by the flooding. Dell used all the resources available to ensure emergency care for the local team members, including sheltering colleagues and family members at the headquarters during the first few days of the flooding. Additionally, Dell created a task force to provide humanitarian aid, donated food, fuel and laptops to help victims, and started a global fundraising campaign in which the company will match the amounts donated by employees.

    

During this period, a friendly dog found refuge in the premises of the Dell office. There, he found much more than shelter: he received affection, food, security and a dry place to stay. He won everyone’s heart with his sweet and playful manner and decided to adopt Dell as his home. Now, he helps protect the site and brings joy to everyone who passes by him.

What is a typical day for Eldorado? Eldorado’s daily routine is very full. Among his tasks, he sleeps, eats, plays, greets every employee that arrives in the morning, accompanies the security team on night and weekend rounds and if he can, Eldorado enjoys running around the site. Of all activities, his favorite is to sneak out the gate and run around the site. 

   

How does he relate to Dell employees? The flexibility during the workday is great for Eldorado because he has the chance to be pampered by many of his coworkers at different times of the day. It’s like a rotation of affection, and everyone who wants to participate is always welcome. It’s a great mental break for team members, and we don’t even need to say how much Eldorado Alpha8 likes company and receiving love! 

   

What are Eldorado’s favorite things to do? Eldorado has a few things included on his list of favorite activities. He enjoys exploring the vastness of the site, not only at night when he accompanies the security team, but also during the day when he can stick his snout out and sniff the smells of the morning. He also really likes the attention and spending quality time with his colleagues. 

   

What is Eldorado’s favorite snack? As a good “gaúcho” (what people from this region of Brazil are called), Eldorado loves to eat tangerines, a typical winter fruit in southern Brazil, especially if he can stay in the sun while snacking.
