Tell us about your career journey.
I started my working career at the age of 14 in a café and worked at McDonald’s throughout high school. Afterward, I worked in the hospitality industry before moving to London, where I moved into IT within the finance industry for several years. Later, I spent a year at one of the branches of British Intelligence before returning to Sydney to work in publishing. From there, I joined Gartner as a Business Analyst, then moved into Sales, and eventually became the APJC Marketing Director. The path that brought me to Dell wasn’t entirely planned—I don’t know if I found Dell or if Dell found me! A chance outreach to Cam Sojan via LinkedIn led to a relatively swift and rewarding recruitment process that brought me into this incredible organisation.
My career path has been full of twists and turns. However, moving to Dell was probably the first deliberate career decision I made. After the birth of my twin sons, I chose to take on an individual contributor role with less travel, which brought me to where I am today.
What’s the most exciting project you’ve worked on?
Without a doubt, the Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef global brand campaign and leading DTF in 2024 and again in 2025 have been the most exciting projects so far.
What work are you most proud of?
I’d have to say the same projects mentioned above, as well as leading a regional team in my previous role.
How do evolving technologies (AI, automation, data analytics) impact career growth in field marketing?
The impact is immense. These skills are more imperative now than ever, and learning to use them makes the role even more exciting and dynamic.
How do successful field marketers leverage both creativity and analytical thinking in their careers?
It’s about effectively blending art and science. Successful marketers learn from others who excel in these areas and develop a strong understanding of the sales process along the way.
What skills and experiences help someone transition into field marketing in a tech company?
For me, a key strength was my sales experience, particularly the ability to sell intangible offerings like advisory services. This skill set proved invaluable when I transitioned into field marketing.
What role does networking play in advancing a career in field marketing?
Networking is critical for advancing any career. It exposes you to new opportunities and insights from a wide range of professionals.
What advice do seasoned field marketers have for newcomers to the industry?
The lesson about blending art and science applies here too. Additionally, I’d reassure newcomers that they don’t need to know everything right away. What’s more important is knowing who to ask for advice or guidance.
How do you overcome challenges?
I focus on framing and understanding the challenge first. Then, I collaborate with team members as a sounding board to explore solutions.
What keeps you motivated?
Working with amazing people, like the ones on my team, keeps me motivated. I love being challenged and continually learning and growing in my role. That said, my twin sons are the ultimate driving force behind everything I do in life.
At Dell I work with amazing people, like the ones on my team! It keeps me motivated. I love being challenged and continually learning and growing in my role.

If you could have a superpower to make field marketing easier, what would it be?
I’d be a magician who could make all marcom magically align perfectly!
If your career in field marketing were a movie, what would the title be?
During especially busy periods, I’d probably call it Jaws!
Why did you choose Dell Technologies?
For the people and the culture. It’s also a brand I deeply admire and take pride in representing.
