I started working as a student employee at Dell in 2016 while studying business administration. Initially, I joined purely for the work itself but quickly realized that I had a strong interest in sales and the IT industry. Therefore, I quickly began looking for additional tasks to optimally prepare myself for the role of Inside Sales Account Manager. After my manager at the time offered me the position, I immediately knew I would accept. After a few fast-paced years in the office, working first with Dell's smallest and then with its largest customers, I knew I absolutely wanted to move into field sales to take on more responsibility and potentially lead a sales team. That's when I was offered the position of leading the Dell for Startups program. Having founded my own company myself a few years ago, I immediately knew how high the demand was for German startups and accepted right away.

Looking back, how has Dell influenced your professional development?
Since Dell has been my only employer for almost a decade now, I'd say it has contributed a lot to my development. When I compare the person today with the young man from the interview for the student trainee position in 2016, they are two completely different people.
What are some career goals you are currently working towards?
We are currently expanding the Dell for Startups program into an even broader program called Dell Business Partnerships. Leading this program in Germany keeps me engaged and occupied, but Dell has always offered way too many attractive job opportunities to stay in one position forever.

What tips or tricks would you give to someone starting their journey at Dell?
Fundamentally, you should have a healthy interest in the industry and always remain curious. Especially in our IT sector, groundbreaking new things happen every day, and you should always be prepared for them.
How do you maintain a sense of balance between your professional responsibilities and personal life?
Since my partners are located all over Germany, I spend a relatively large amount of time in the car. To unwind, I like to listen to podcasts on all sorts of topics. Otherwise, I try to fill any free time with some kind of sport activities. Since my first passion was football, it's almost always that. If that is not possible due to travelling or other reasons, jogging or the gym will also do it.
