Lauren's Experience as a Dell Technologies Finance Intern

Lauren Gray | Undergraduate Intern | Texas, United States

Hi! My name is Lauren Gray! I am a Finance student at Texas Tech University, but I am originally from Houston, Texas. In my free time, I love to weightlift and hang out with friends and family. Since moving to Austin, I have started training for an Ironman this October in Waco, which would never have been on my radar if it wasn't for Dell Run Club!

Over the first half of my internship, I gained much insightful knowledge about Dell and the treasury department. I am on a foreign exchange team. We hedge the foreign currency risk that Dell encounters across all regions. I am working on a treasury modernization project to help the team access important information through Power BI, streamline the traders' processes and more.

Why did you decide to intern at Dell?

I chose to intern at Dell because of its exceptional culture, which I found to be unmatched compared to other internships. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and believe that this internship offers significant value to both the intern and the company.

What has been your favorite part of the Dell internship experience so far?

My favorite part of the internship has been getting to understand how the company works towards a common goal. There are so many different departments, factors and teams that equally play a pivotal role in ensuring our company's success.

What has been the most challenging part of your internship so far?

The most challenging part has been understanding all the different acronyms and Dell lingo we have! Another challenge I have faced is being comfortable with not knowing and asking for guidance. Everyone here wants to help you and see you succeed!

What advice do you have for other college students who might be interested in an internship at Dell?

I advise any college student considering an internship at Dell to go for it! Initially, I was confused by how a 21-year-old student could contribute to such a large corporation. However, my time here has proven me wrong. The projects and events we engage in are intentional and enriching, adding significant value to your life both at Dell and beyond.
