Lisandra on Limitless Challenges & OpportunitiesOriginally Published: October 4, 2022
Lisandra is a boomerang employee at Dell Technologies Brazil. She joined Dell in 2014 as a Talent Acquisition Intern, where she stayed for one year. After that, she decided to leave the company. However, in 2019 she returned to restart her Dell career as a Junior Recruiter for Tech Talent, and just one year later she joined the HRRP, a HR rotation program in Brazil. She was a part of this program for a year and a half before she decided to drive her career towards the IT area of the company. She then applied for the position of Tech Program Manager in Brazil, and got the job. Now she is currently in a role with a team called Digital People, which is 100% focused on developing people in IT by offering programs for recent graduates. These programs revolve around leadership development, diversity and much more. Lisandra shared with us a little bit about her experience coming back to Dell:
Why did you decide to return to Dell? I decided to return to the company for many reasons; because of its ethics, culture, and the way I have always felt welcomed and free to be my true self. Also, having the chance to be part of the ERGs, the work life balance, and knowing that I would have many development opportunities.
While working at Dell, what gives you confidence that you can create a great career in your area? I think what gives me confidence is being inspired by seeing other people in my area growing and developing. I was already promoted two times since I joined Dell in 2019!
Are you part of any ERG? How did it help you to grow as a professional? I'm part of the ERG Pride. Over my career, it has helped me by developing presentation skills. I was very shy to talk in public, even more in English, so it has allowed me to practice it in a safe space which helped me develop more confidence.
As a woman working in STEM, do you have any advice to share with other women that want to join this area? My advice is to believe in your potential and challenge yourself everyday, whether if it's applying for a new role or taking new responsibilities in a project or something like that. Take risks, and don't let your insecurity hold you back. When I first applied for my current position, I was insecure because it was something new and very challenging, but now I see that trusting myself was the best thing I could have done.
