A Program Built to Shape Tomorrow’s Finance Leaders
The Dell Accounting Development Program (ADP) is more than just a training initiative—it’s a launchpad for future accounting leaders. Through three consecutive one-year assignments across various accounting domains, I gained both breadth and depth of accounting expertise through real, hands-on experiences. The program also offers opportunities for international and regional rotations, adding a global perspective to the journey. What sets ADP apart is its structured curriculum, which includes targeted training, project work, and participation in regional or international conferences. These experiences not only helped me grow technically and personally but also provided support for professional certification, executive exposure, and dedicated mentorship that guided me every step of the way.

As technology continues to reshape how we work and collaborate, being part of this program means staying ahead—not just through technical training, but also by honing soft skills and embracing change.

What Makes the ADP Journey Unique
Throughout my journey in the Dell Accounting Development Program (ADP), I’ve been fortunate to experience exceptional opportunities for growth through challenging rotations, structured training, mentorship, and exposure to various aspects of the business. Over the three-year program, I rotated across three distinct teams—Services Accounting, Global Operations Accounting, and Corporate Accounting. Each rotation provided a broader perspective on Dell’s business, hands-on involvement in impactful projects, and the chance to build a diverse skill set that has been instrumental in supporting my career growth. These experiences enabled me to quickly develop the knowledge and capabilities essential for career progression.
Beyond my day-to-day responsibilities, I participated in an MBA-style training curriculum that included classes, case studies, group and individual research projects, and business simulations. This curriculum was pivotal in strengthening my foundation in finance, accounting, and operations, while also sharpening my business acumen and critical thinking skills. Tackling complex case studies and simulations challenged me to devise creative, practical solutions, helping me grow as a problem-solver. One of the most rewarding aspects of this experience was collaborating with peers from around the globe and presenting our work to senior leadership. Additionally, Dell’s financial support for ADP participants pursuing professional accounting certifications further demonstrated the program’s commitment to our growth.

Key Experiences and Meaningful Connections
A standout highlight of the program was the bi-annual ADP development conference, hosted at various Dell locations such as Penang, Texas, and Bratislava. These events were filled with opportunities to network with inspiring leaders and fellow participants from around the world, engage in impactful development workshops, gain leadership insights, and present our projects or case studies to senior leaders.
What truly made my ADP experience meaningful were the incredible people I met along the way—from fellow participants to rotation managers, mentors, and team members. The support and guidance I received not only shaped my career but also bolstered my confidence in navigating it

From Malaysia to Texas Building Global Perspective Through Dell
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to undertake a six-month international assignment at Dell’s Round Rock office in Austin, Texas. As someone born and raised in Malaysia, living and working in a different country was a truly unique and transformative experience. It allowed me to immerse myself in a new culture, learn local customs, and broaden my global perspective.
Professionally, I built relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, expanding my network and exposing me to new ways of thinking and working. Personally, the experience helped me grow more resilient as I navigated unfamiliar surroundings and adapted to change. It boosted my confidence, independence, and ability to handle uncertainty.
Outside of work, I had the chance to travel across Texas and other states, experiencing the country’s beauty—from its natural landscapes and architecture to its art, history, and cultural diversity. This assignment has been an incredibly rewarding chapter, contributing significantly to both my personal and professional growth. I’m especially thankful for Dell’s strong support, which made the entire administrative and logistical process smooth and stress-free.
Looking back, one of the things I value most about ADP is the caliber of people it brings together—self-driven, curious, and eager to grow. While many of us join the program with a background in accounting, holding either a bachelor’s or master’s degree, what truly unites us is a shared mindset: a commitment to leadership, open communication, and continuous adaptability. As technology continues to reshape how we work and collaborate, being part of this program means staying ahead—not just through technical training, but also by honing soft skills and embracing change. For students just starting out, this journey begins long before day one—by staying curious, being proactive, and building a strong foundation for the future.
