Hello! My name is Sebastian Melendez, and I attend the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I currently live in Brownsville, Texas, but spent most of my life living and studying in Mexico. I like all outdoor activities, such as hiking, swimming, running, etc.
I am interning on the AdTech team in Global Marketing. I’m currently researching an AdTech capability called Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) and building a case study highlighting the ways the team has operationalized the DCO program for global adoption. Due to my limited knowledge of the subject matter, this experience has been an intensive immersion into the advertising industry, making me learn something different every day.
What have you learned so far?
Most of my professional career has been devoted to working with smaller organizations, thus contributing to company as big as Dell has taught me what it takes to provide global solutions. This includes not only structures and protocols that contribute to all teams around the world, but also strategies that are localized to meet the different teams’ needs. Learning this is very valuable as I aspire to build my own company in the future.
What kind of an impact will your work this summer have on the business as a whole?
The purpose of my project is to demonstrate to leaders in the organization how the DCO solution is an efficient and effective option to unlock global scales.
What has been your favorite part of the Dell internship experience so far?
This experience is composed of so many enjoyable moments, such as meeting leaders in the organization (including Michael Dell), learning from culturally diverse team members, participating in different activities with other interns and exposing myself to several departments and positions of this incredible company.
What has it been like relocating to Austin?
I have been to Austin before as I am a Texas resident, but spending two months with other interns from others states and countries while enjoying all the opportunities in the city has been a priceless experience that I would love to repeat. I feel very confident to say that the Marketing Internship Program is a life changing experience.
